    • Search engine is designed to search for information on the World Wide Web and FTP servers.
    • HOW SEARCH ENGINE WORKS:
    • 1. Web crawling
    • 2. Indexing
    • 3. Searching
    • Web search engines work by storing information about many web pages, which they retrieve from the html itself. These pages are retrieved by a Web crawler (sometimes also known as a spider).

    • 1. WEB CRAWLING
    • A Web crawler is a computer program that browses the World Wide Web in a methodical, automated manner or in an orderly fashion. Other terms for Web crawlers are ants, automatic indexers, bots.
    • 2. SEARCH INDEXING
    • Search engine indexing collects, parses, and stores data to facilitate fast and accurate information retrieval.
    • 3.SEARCHING
    • Searching, using a computer to find an item with specified properties (e.g., specified text) among a collection of items using a search algorithm
  • 4. THREE BASIC STEPS IN SEARCHING 1. Identify your keyword or Technologies When planning your search, break down your topic into its separate concepts. Eg: Cloud Computing , SAP ERP Packages 2. Make a list of search terms for each concept Once you have identified your concepts, list the terms which describe each concept. 3. Specify the logical relationships among your search terms Once you know the words you want to search, you need to establish the logical relationships among them using Boolean logic: AND, OR, NOT.
  • 5. USAGE OF BOOLEAN OPERATORS Boolean phrases are a system of logical combinations, using words like AND, OR & NOT AND or "+" Eg: Java and J2ee .C + C# OR Eg: SOA OR Service Oriented Architecture NOT or "-" Eg:Core Java and J2ME not J2EE
