  • Is Android the future?
April 27, 2010: Microsoft Corp. and HTC Corp. have signed a patent agreement that provides broad coverage under Microsoft’s patent portfolio for HTC’s mobile phones running the Android mobile platform. Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft will receive royalties from HTC.
Rob Enderle, principal analyst for the Enderle Group in San Jose, California, estimates manufacturers have to pay Microsoft $20 to $40 per phone to license the intellectual property required for Android.
“Android is going to fall off as an expensive and risky platform.” “Nobody wants to deal with Microsoft.”
