Institutional logos are shown at the beginning of the films. good examples of Institutional
logos have celestial elements and enigmatic qualities, these elements are must if you want
the audience to be connected to the film that is playing. The creators of the logos main
objective is to draw the audience in and take them away from reality and also take them on
a journey and adventure inside there minds.
2. Warner Bros
The Warner Bros logo, like many other institutional logos have clouds in the background,
This indicates that the institution is above society and off prestige status. The colour of the
logo is gold, gold's connotation is wealthy ruling and prestige it also connotes to number 1
This shows that the institution think high of there selves. The logo is shaped as a shield this
indicates it has a strong reputation and sets a standard.
3. Columbia
The Columbia logo demonstrates a state of prestige and power. Firstly, the clouds
show how prestige the institution is this is emphasised by the light shining onto the clouds.
Secondly, the torch represents power in the logo and it also shows a sense of dignity, create a
sense that the institution is well respected. Finally the lady in the logo is dressed up as a
goddess , this shows that Columbia rules over other institutions and it also shows that its
unbelievable.
4. DreamWorks
The DreamWorks logo has effective ways of drawing the audience in, Firstly, it creates a
dreamy effect with the night setting and the dark blue colour, this makes the audience
relaxed and stay seated. Secondly, like most other institutional logos have it contains a
clouds, but this time the clouds are situated on either side on the moon just like curtains
are in the theatre this indicates to the audience that the show is about to begin. Finally
the child is shown fishing on the moon and underneath him where his hook is. Would be
people and society this indicates the logo is attempting to hook the audience into the film.
5. Paramount
The Paramount logo shows many indications that the are the best and are on top . Firstly,
the peak of the mountain shows that the institution is on top and it also shows a state of
Achievement. Secondly, the stars are situated around the writing “paramount” signifying
That the name is prestigious. Finally, in the background there is a bright horizon this
signifies that paramount has a bright future ahead of them.
6. MGM
The MGM logo indicates to the audience that it is number 1. Firstly, the colour of
the logo is gold, the connotation of gold is royalty and first place, this is emphasised
because the background is black this draws out the gold in the logo. Finally, there is a
picture of a lion in the middle of the logo this shows to the audience that the logo is the
king of institutions because a lions connotation Is king of the jungle.
7. Universal
The Universal logo concentrates on the popularity of the institution. Firstly the logo
contains a picture of the world in the middle this indicates the popularity of the logo
(worldwide). Secondly the colour of the background is black this draws more attention to the
globe.
8. 20th Century Fox
The 20th century fox logo concentrates on status. firstly the logo colour is gold and
gold connotes prestige and royalty and a higher status. Secondly this is also shown
by the letters of the logo being monumental. Finally the spotlights draw
attention towards the logo signifying that fox is popular and famous.
