UiPath Community: Communication Mining from Zero to Hero
Digital graphics technology
1. Unit 13: Assignment 1- Digital Graphics Technology
Introduction:
This report will talk about different types of Digital Graphics and Advantages and Disadvantages
of each different type of digital graphics.
Digital Graphics Technology:
Digital Graphics Technology is Applying computer technology to create digital graphics. Digital
graphics projects good design.
But graphic designing is a totally different process where we use both natural skills with
creativityto build real designs.
Before digital imaging designers had to have great demonstration skills to realize
their concepts.
Bitmap:
How are they Made?
A Bitmap is a type of graphic composed of pixels (picture element) in a grid.
Bitmap are made of Pixels of different colours.
File Extensions Commonly used
This is an image of a
Bitmap
Since the computer has to store information about every single pixelin the image, the file size of
a bitmap graphic is often quite large.
The BMP format stores color data for each pixel in the image without any compression.
The JPEG and GIF formats are also bitmaps, but use image compression algorithms that can
significantly decrease their file size.
For this reason, JPEG and GIF images are used on the Web, while BMP images are often used for
printable images.
When they are used:
Bitmap graphics are used for photographs, graphics with a wide range of colours and graphics
with effects
Bitmaps are used to create realistic graphics and images
They are the most common type of graphic used and supported on digital systems
Advantages of Bitmap:

2. Unit 13: Assignment 1- Digital Graphics Technology
Bitmaps are very easy to create. Take a picture with a digital camera, or scan something in and
you’ve got one
A bitmap image uses solid color pixels, which can be identified and recolored easily
They are very cost effective. You can take a picture or scan in a drawing, and easily show it on
the Internet or send in an email
Disadvantages of Bitmap:
The first one is in terms of digital storage. They are memory intensive, so the higher the
resolution the larger the file will be.
In terms of the amount of digital storage, bitmaps are memory intensive, and the higher the
resolution, the larger the file size.
Programs used to make these Graphics
Programs which is used to make these Graphics is Corel Painterand Adobe fireworks
Adobe Fireworks (formerly Macromedia Fireworks) is a bitmap and vector graphics editor
Corel Painter is a raster-based digital art application created for drawing, painting and print
marketing
Talk about Pixels (Digital ones used to make bitmap images)
Pixels are picture elements; tiny dots of individual color that make up what you see on your
screen. All these tiny dots of color come together to form the images you see. Most computer
monitors display approximately 70 to 100 pixels per inch--the actual number depends on your
monitor and screen settings
Vector:
How are they Made?
Vector graphics are created in graphics packages and consist of shapes called
objects
It is possible to edit each object separately, for example, change the shape, colour, sizeand
position.

a colourful
Vector
Vector Graphics are made out of Points, Line, Curves and shapes or polygons which are all based
on mathematical expressions, to represent images in computer graphics
File Extensions Commonly Used:
The File size is small, as the computer stores details of objects, which do not require much
memory.

3. Unit 13: Assignment 1- Digital Graphics Technology
The Common file extensions used for Vector Images is Cgm, .Svg, .Odg, .Eps, .xml
When they are used:
Vectors are used to create graphics such as interface elements (banners, buttons) text,
line art and detailed drawings (plans, maps).
Advantages of Vector:
The most important and obvious plus point of vector images is their power of scalability
Each set of lines in a vector image represent separate and distinct objects
Vector graphics can easily represent simple geometric objects, in file sizes that are far smaller
and faster to operate
Disadvantages of Vector:
Drawings containing trapping information can only be scaled up to 20 percent larger or smaller
Thin lines may disappear if a vector drawing is reduced too much
Another important disadvantage of vector is the time and talent needed to create it
Programs used to make These Graphics:
Programs that Vector Graphics use is
AI (Adobe Illustrator) - is a vector graphics editor developed and marketed by Adobe Systems
CDR (CorelDraw) - is a vector graphics editor developed and marketed by Corel Corporation of
Ottawa, Canada
CGM (Computer Graphics Metafile) - is a free and open international standard file format for 2D
vector graphics, raster graphics, and text
SWF (Shockwave Flash) - is an Adobe Flash file format used for multimedia, vector graphics and
Action Script
Factors That Effect Quality:
Compression: This is when you try to reduce the size of a file, perhaps to make it easier to send to
someone else andit compressed the image your loose data, this means you lose quality because you
don’t know where your image will go
Yaqub Nur 12C
4. Unit 13: Assignment 1- Digital Graphics Technology
Resolution: This is the size of an image. It is how many pixels tall, and wide, an image is
Resolution refers to the number of pixels in an image and is usually stated as dpi (dots per inch) or
ppi (pixels per inch)
You convert a vector to a bitmap at a size of 100 by 100 pixels and then decide you need the image
to be larger, you'll need to go back to the original vector file and export the image again
Resolution only applies to Bitmap Images
Capturing Images:
Advantage of Scanning Images:
Flatbed scanners are very accurate and can produce reasonably high quality images. Any Images
which is digitised by the scanner can then be included on electronic documents images once
digested can be enhanced with a graphics application
It can copy things onto computers then you can alter the things you copied
Disadvantage of Scanning Images:
The disadvantages of using scanners is that if there is a blackout, the whole system goes out
Images can take up a lot of memory space images lose some quality in the scanning digitising
process. The quality of the final image is dependent on the quality of the original image
Advantages of Taking a Photograph:
Digital photography is so popular is that you can see your picture as soon as you take it.
Can view images immediately via screen
Can make multiple copies with ease
OutPut
Print: Printing uses the CYNK, Colour, Pallet, Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, and Nackl
Screen: Use pixels to display and image, so uses the RGB Colour Pallet (Red, Green, Blue
Organisation
Asset Management: When working on a project, or any work, it is Important to keep files organised.
Save work, with suitable names, into correct folders

5. Unit 13: Assignment 1- Digital Graphics Technology
This means others are able to use and access your work, and you are able to access theirs more
efficiently
Conclusion
In this report I have been talking about Bitmap images and what they are used for and also the
Advantages and Disadvantages. I have also been talking about Vector Images and why they are used
and how were they made.
In My Opinion the research went good and that I you can use different methods to help me on this
Course. This research I done was talking about Digital Graphics Technogely.
