  • 3. What is E-Rate? <ul><li>The Schools and Libraries Program of the Universal Service Fund </li></ul><ul><li>Provides discounts to assist most schools and libraries in the United States to obtain affordable telecommunications and Internet access. </li></ul>
  • 4. Who is eligible for E-Rate? <ul><li>Schools must meet the following requirements </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Must provide elementary or secondary education </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>May be public or private </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Must operate as non-profit </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Cannot have an endowment exceeding $50 million </li></ul></ul>

How much can E-Rate save Klein ISD? <ul><li>Depending on the level of poverty and the urban/rural status of the population served, E-Rate can save a school between 20% and 90% of the costs of eligible services. </li></ul><ul><li>Primary measure for determining discounts is the percentage of students eligible for free and reduced lunch. </li></ul>

What is Klein’s technology plan? <ul><li>Goal 1: Implement teaching and learning strategies that incorporate 21 st century tools, context and content. </li></ul><ul><li>Goal 2: Implement and sustain a high quality, on-going, systemic, job-embedded professional development program for all staff. </li></ul>
