  • 2. TYPES OF FIRE EXTINGUISHER SAND AND WATER BUCKET FIRE HYDRANT FIRE HOSE SPRINKLER WATER SPRAY
  • 3. SAND AND WATER BUCKET  It is the oldest method in which bucket is filled with sand and water to stop fire.  These buckets are low technology methods of fighting small fire.  They are hung on dedicated fire stand and placed in prominent position.
  • 4. LIMITATIONS  It is can be used for small fire only.  Need more man power to control fire.  Water and sand need to be filled again and again.
  • 5. FIRE HYDRANT  Fire hydrant system is capable of extinguishing fires of large sizes in small time if it is handled by trained personnel.  Fire hydrant throw water with great pressure.  Fire Hydrant system is designed in rings so as to receive water at a place via two routs.
  • 6. They are divided into four categories 1 Light hazard 2 Ordinary hazard 3 High Hazard (Class A) and High Hazard (Class B). LIMITATIONS- •This need to be handle by trained person. •Special equipments are require to open hydrant.
  • 7. FIRE HOSE  Fire hoses are high pressure hose it is used inside the building or can be used outside .  They are attached to fire hydrant or plumbing system.  Pressure of fire hose is 8 to 20 bar.
  • 8. SPRINKLER  To overcome the limitation of hydrant sprinkler are used  They are heat sensitive when heat reaches it open up and spray water.  These are used in factories and large complexes. TYPES OF SPRINKLERS frangible bulb type fusible link type
  • 9. LIMITATIONS  The detection is relatively slow.  It can not be used on tank fires.  It can not be use on Electrical equipment.
  • 10. WATER SPRAY  To overcome the limitations of sprinkler water spray are used.  There response much faster then sprinklers.  They are used in exposure protection.
  • 11. Water spray in transformer Types of water spray system- •High Velocity water Spray System(HVWSS) •Medium Velocity Water Spray System. (MVWSS)
