  • fouazfn Fouaz Parkar, Assistant Professor at Anjuman-I-Islam Kalsekar Technical Campus Very well explained.... ppl normally dont go to the root cause of any project... and hence, they blindly believe what is told... Facts and figures do help a lot... kindly allow me to download this presentation or mail me this presentation on fouaz@rediffmail.com 1 week ago

  • gautamchaitanya Gautam Chaitanya, Internship at spacedevelopers good effort to explain...although try to look on the bigger issues... It is a economic means of transport in the long run. No doubt the initial investment is high but the returns are sustainable for a long term. If we have a world class POLLUTION FREE public transport system, the dependence on private vehicles will reduce, hence reduction in traffic congestion, reduction on use of fuel...reduction in air pollution...and reduction in bulky flyovers and grade separators (which are only planned to serve for next 25 yrs)... the amount spend by the city government today for fuel and gasoline, and even for purification of the air is also tremendous, soon because of urban migration this cost will reach skies...thus we are in a need for long term projects which can sustain our living... *(the air pollution caused in recent years due to increased vehicular traffic has resulted in a difference of 6 degrees between city and its outskirts, the city is itself is becoming a hot funnel...) 2 months ago

  • samirpatel6486 samirpatel6486 nice presantation but dear we can provide the monorail provision insted of metro because monorail construction required less land use for foundation & other so give me a idea i am ME transportation student 1 year ago

  • ShivaniRaina1 Shivani Raina Dude, your presentation is totally baseless and on wrong assumptions. See Delhi's pre n post metro senerio and ask public over there 'how they are enjoying the world class public transport'.
It is the best solution for our traffic problems n pollution level. see the development nations what is role of metro there n then decide to save a building or save a nation

  • akshay00 akshay00 I am a Puneite and my comments on the Presentation are as below:

    1) It is very clearly understood and even stated in this presentation that laying a Metro line or two is not going to solve the problem of the whole city. It is obvious that the Metro will benefit only those citizens who are residing along the line. What really required is a whole big network of metro covering complete city, like Mumbai suburban rail or Delhi Metro.
    2) We are still at discussion stage and citizens are opposing the project as a “concept” itself which is not correct. Pune has its peculiar problems like narrow roads, no road divider, no footpath, no flyovers, no parking space, etc. and this is city the Puneites have built in last 25 years! So construction of Metro, either elevated or underground, is definitely not easy, unlike in Delhi.
    3) This presentation showed only the disadvantages of Metro. I understand that there are problems during construction and also other issues, but then the author must tell what is the solution for the traffic problem? Today we cannot even walk on the roads of Pune, what will happen after 10 or 20 years, can you imagine?
    4) Presentation states that the citizens must be involved in every decision making process of Pune Metro; can the author show one project in last 50 years in India where this has happened? If the town planners start involving citizens in every decision making of a project, then you cannot build a single project in any country, because each and everybody have some or other problems in project! Can you satisfy each and everybody?
    5) Most important thing I want to ask is - how many presentations have been prepared by citizens of Pune in last 25 years on the issues of the city? The 7th biggest city of country has no flyovers, no wide roads, no road dividers, no footpath, all the roads are encroached by public (supported by politicians), no pollution norms, no control on landuse pattern, no control on zopadpattis (even the Parvti hills is completely covered), reduced the green cover of city in last 10 years, no full fledge airport, no bus terminals which can accommodate more than 50 buses, etc. etc. etc. there is no end. Why no such presentation was prepared and presented to PMC and discussed, the way it is being discussed for Metro?
    6) It is unfortunate that the citizens are sleeping for last 25 years and even after that they don’t want a solution suggested by somebody, also they don’t have any solution from their own!
    7) Technically no system like - running additional buses, BRT, monorail, sky bus, etc. can work in Pune because of the volume of traffic. What we need is good wide roads with dividers, many more flyovers, good quality roads and footpaths, removal of road encroachments and then a good Metro network of at least 100km, either underground or elevated. Citizens should not oppose Metro just for opposition! When you place the right thing to the administration they will also listen and will do it.
    8) Reading this presentation one will feel that Metro is not required by the citizens, then what we will do? Keep sleeping for another 10 years so that the city becomes hell?

  • rasavisa Oberoi Multimedia Limited, Mumbai at Oberoi Multimedia Limited, Mumbai Great effort .... Nicely done, I can understand the effort you put in this project. The one and only minus point, which i feel in this presentation is Alternate Idea to reduce the traffic, I think your team can give some positive alternate Idea.......good job.....Keep it up.... 2 years ago

  • AmitabhPrasad Amitabh Prasad at IBM I am not sure if some one can present to Solution to current and future traffic worries. It's easy rather very easy to find fault in the system but difficult to come up with alternative Solutions. Look at changed and reduced pollution level of Delhi 2 years ago
