Post-16 compulsory citizenship</li></li></ul><li>Preparation for life in the uk test<br />Who has to take the test?<br />if you are applying for naturalisation as a British citizen <br />if you are applying for indefinite leave to remain<br />if your level of English is above Entry level.<br />BUT<br />if your English is Entry level 3 or below: take the Citizenship through ESOL route.<br />

  • 4. Citizenship materials for esol learners and schemes of work<br />cover a lot of the items in the test <br />have been updated<br />a scheme of work with ideas and topics will be provided for you to use<br />a good idea to clearly label in the SOW when citizenship is being covered<br />

  • 6. Post -16 citizenship<br />What is this?<br />Post-16 Citizenship gives young people the knowledge, skills and understanding to play an effective role in society at local, national and international levels <br />Learning and Skills Improvement Service(LSIS)<br />

Citizenship is not the same as…..<br />Lifeskills/PSHE<br />Citizenship looks at the public issues rather than the personal ones<br />Volunteering or charity fund-raising<br />Citizenship develops critical understanding as well as action<br />Nationality<br />Citizenship encourages existing, new and would-be citizens to get involved and take an interest in topical and controversial issues<br />

Post-16 citizenship<br />this is compulsory for ALL 16-18 year olds<br />must be included in the students’ timetable<br />can be delivered as a separate, group tutorial session<br />what is to be covered MUST be shown on the scheme of work<br />a scheme of work will be provided for you to use<br />
