But none as fundamental as the division between people based on poverty
It affects a human being’s very ability to earn a fair living and to live with dignity
And the foundation for that division is laid right at the very beginning In school
Only a handful get a quality education and that makes all the difference
The effect of this is clearly seen in a city like Bangalore, India’s New Age City
The world’s leading Multinational Corporations have their key software development centres here
Here, over 3000 “IT” companies employ 650,000 people in high earning jobs
Only 10% of these employees come from the Government run, mass schooling system* When in fact more than 85% of all children in the country have access only to this sub-standard system *Dipstick done by Parikrma in over 30 leading IT companies
10 out of 100 children can afford a good education provided by private schools They get access to the best jobs
The rest end up in irregular, low-paying daily wage jobs
The curriculum is poor, outdated and irrelevant
Teachers are unskilled with low accountability
Why is Govt. schooling ineffective?
Teaching methods are archaic
There is high teacher absenteeism - one in 4 teachers do not attend school
No wonder then in Bangalore there are more than 2 million people living in 800 slums
These numbers are bound to grow
Unless we can help the poor compete equally and break their cycle of poverty once and for all
This is where Parikrma Humanity Foundation comes in
The Parikrma Model helps the poorest children compete on equal terms
It prepares these children through a top-class formal English education
It also addresses the most important gap these children face – lack of exposure
At the same time it addresses all hurdles to attending school and learning well
The Parikrma Model is, therefore, a 360 ° development program built around the life of a child
We call it the Circle of Life ™
Circle of Life ™ Nutrition Healthcare Education Family Care
How is the Parikrma Model put into action?

KG 12 th 10 th Placed in a job 11 years in Parikrma Centre for Learning 2 Years in Parikrma pre-university Sponsored Under-graduate Degree College Child comes into Parikrma
Thus ensuring a high probability of successfully breaking the cycle of poverty
In 5 years, Parikrma has been able to lay the foundation for a successful Model

Establishing educational excellence (Parikrma received the ICSE board award for education excellence)
State Governor’s recognition
Ours is a role of a catalyst
A catalyst to systemic change So that many more children can benefit from this Model
With that in mind, we are building a Leadership Training Centre on land given to us
Parikrma Hub

This is where we will spread our Model to teachers and administrators from Govt. and other schools
