  • 1. INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY Term 1~ Week 9.3 Specific Objective ~ 3.1.1
  • 2. KEYBOARDING
    • This involves the learning of the keys on the keyboard and what they are used for.
    • For the sake of this lesson we are going to consider how to type from the keyboard and how we could improve upon our speed in typing.
  • 3. KEYBOARDING
    • We have a Software that helps us learn how to type named MAVIS BEACON and this software teaches us how to learn typing and how we could improve upon our typing speed.
  • 4. MAVIS BEACON
      • How To Open Mavis Beacon
  • 5. HOW TO OPEN MAVIS BEACON
    • Single left click on the start button.
    • Single left click on Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing or Single left click on All Programs and Single left click on Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing 15 then Single left click Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing.
    • NB: Your teacher and the direction on the screen will guide to go through the rest of the stages.
  • 6. THE RIGHT POSTURE FOR TYPING
    • Line up top of monitor with top of head.
    • Position screen at arms length.
    • Bend elbows at 90 degrees.
    • Keep wrist straight.
    • Place hips far back in chair bent at 90 degrees.
  • 7. LEFT HAND ( A S D F ) HOME KEYS
    • Place the little finger of the left hand on A, the fourth finger on S, the middle finger D, then the index finger on F.
  • 8. RIGHT HAND ( J K L ; ) HOME KEYS
    • Place the little finger of the Right Hand on :, the fourth finger on L, the middle finger on K, then the index finger on J.
  • 9. CAPS LOCK / SHIFT KEY
    • The CAPS LOCK and SHIFT Key allow us to type capital letters with the keyboard.
    • We do not allow students to make use of the CAPS LOCK within the ICT Laboratory.
  • 10. CAPITAL LETTER BY THE NUMBER
    • Locate the letter on the keyboard you wish to type in a capital letter.
    • With the other hand's small finger press and hold down the SHIFT Key.
    • Press the key for the capital letter you wish th type.
    • Release the SHIFT key.
