But don’t worry you don’t need to memorize all of them. If you justmemorize the main Business Analyst Interview Questions you may comeacross as someone who is actually lacking the actual experience. Anyone canpick up a book or read up on the internet the different “Business AnalystInterview questions” that you may be asked.Business Analyst Interview QuestionsDon’t get me wrong it’s good to know whatcertain things stand for, such as FMEA (FailureMode and Effects Analysis). It will show thatyou did your homework but will it really impressthe interviewer? Will you really standoutfrom the other interviewees? Don’t you think the other interviewees be saying the same thing? You past experiences is far more importantthan just going through some Business AnalystInterview questions. Maybe you are not anofficial Business Analyst at the moment. Buthave a careful look at you day to day role. I’m sure you are already employingcertain Business Analysis principals. Many of the principals are just commonknowledge. The thing is everyone loves stories. If you have got good stories of yourcurrent experiences, the interviewer will forget the other questions that theywant to ask and want to hear more of your story.Of course make sure your story is not made up. The interviewer will easily
  • 2. be able to pick this up when drilling down into your story. For example talk about a project where the demands were high. You drilleddown to the basics and assumptions to really understand the domain from theuser point of view. This allowed to determined if there were better ways tosolve the original problem. Then in next step you broke down the tasks to determine the business benefitsfor each item: Hard benefits, Soft benefits. You also broke down the tasksinto must have, want to have and like to have. This allowed you to prioritize thetasks. Not everything was to be released in one go but instead in a phasedapproach. You had issues with getting the end users engaged in the process. The waysyou dealt with the issue etc.The interviewer will find this much more interesting. Tell a story that yourinterviewer can relate to. Where they had the same challenges as well. Wherethey want to know how you dealt with a similar issue which they have had in thepast. At the end of the day the interviewer whats to employ someone that they canrelate to not just because you answered all the Business Analyst interviewquestions correctly. Stories is such an effective way for people to relate toyou. If you do it well, it will be you who will be directing the interview not the interviewer. So don’t worry too much on having a list of Business Analyst interviewquestions that you might be asked. Focus more on the stories that you want toshare in order for them to relate to you.You know there are people out there that make money from tellingstories. Stories of their past. The struggles they encountered and how theydealt with it. Not only do they make money from it but they also inspire other
