  • 1. Quick Facts Regina is the capital of Saskatchewan and the 16th largest city in Canada with a population of 205,000 as per 2012 annual demographic estimates. Originally called Pile O’ Bones because of the huge piles of bones left in the area by First Nations hunters. The community was renamed REGINA (Latin for Queen) after Queen Victoria who was the monarch at the time in 1882. It has been the "Queen City" ever since. Regina has always had a diverse immigrant population(Multicultural Population), with immigrants from many European and Eastern European countries, some as guest workers, some as international students with their families.

  • 3. Economy Regina has been named one of the most affordable places to do business in western North America several times over the past few years. The Regina and Region Economic Development Authority has been established to attract new business to the area and to foster growth of existing businesses. Oil and natural gas, potash, kaolin, sodium sulphite and bentonite contribute a great part of Regina and area's economy. The completion of the train link between eastern Canada and the then-District of Assiniboia in 1885. Interesting Facts  Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian football league is the only top league professional sports team of any sport in Saskatchewan ,play their home games at mosaic stadium.  Regina is an intermediate stopping point for travelers on the trans Canada Highway.  Regina is a travel destination for residents of southeastern Saskatchewan and the immediately adjacent region of the neighboring us states of north Dakota and Montana.  Regina is a beautiful oasis on the prairies with more than 350,000 hand-planted trees. There are many attractions and events that take place all year in Regina for residents and tourists alike.  Regina as an prairie city is the perfect place to call home. It is an excellent location to raise a family, with an abundance of parks, sports and recreational facilities, bicycle pathways, family attractions and an exceptional quality of life.
