Slide 6: The personal development plan (PDP)  The basis is the CMD competency profile:  Usability researcher  Interaction designer  Visual interface designer  At least 4 competencies from these CMD professional profiles  CMD students must at least reach level 3+ (deepening), GMT students at least level 3 (broadening)  Your personal choice

Slide 7: The personal development plan (PDP) Which competencies should you choose?  Do they provide you with a meaningful professional profile in combination with your major?  Do the competencies have a link with what you want to do after your study?  Is it possible for you to acquire these competencies at this level?

Slide 8: Testing  Your quarter grades are determined by the progress of your PDP  At the end of each quarter you report about this progress  You develop your competencies within the context of your assignments  The material you deliver during the assignments is the evidence for your competency development

Slide 9: Testing  Delivery of all materials is done by means of your blog  http://stud.cmd.hro.nl/<nummer>/uxdminor/ http://stud.gmt.hro.nl/<nummer>/uxdminor/  The approval of the competencies you have developed is done on your initiative, by presenting the evidence you have collected

Slide 10: Opdrachten  There are various possible assignments  Individual practical assignment (in which you work with others outside your minor and you have the role of ux designer)  Team practical assignment (in which you carry out an assignment with others in the minor for a client)  Essay assignment (in which you treat a topic from the professional field in the form of an essay)  Research assignment (in which you set up and carry out research related to the professional field)  It is possible to come up with your own suggestions for these assignments

Slide 11: Assignments  Every assignment has a number of review moments  These review moments take place with the help of a number of your fellow students and a lecturer, at your initiative  Here you give each other feedback and you receive an assessment from a lecturer (this assessment counts in your competency development)  In the practical assignments there are at least three reviews:  Analysis review  Concept review  Design review  The reports of these reviews are part of the evidence in your competency development

Slide 12: Themes  Next to working on assignments a number of themes in the uxd field will be discussed  Workshops with guest speakers during the meeting  Essay assignments

Slide 13: Themes Possible themes for this period:  Mobile interaction  Emotional design  Ubiqutous computing  New input technologies  Information designs and visualisations  Functional sound in interfaces  Interfaces for interactive TV  Design research  Design for accessibility

Slide 14: Q1  At the end of Q1 you must have made a choice which competencies you want to develop in the minor  To this end we do a number of orientation assignments  GMT students have their own programme

Slide 15: Good, but what are we going to talk about? A good explanation of (user) experience design by Jesse James Garrett at the conference ‘The Mix 2007’ in Las Vegas, March 2007. (@17min30)
