Abstract
This study investigates how private companies in the United States make good use of “open data” in terms of three major categories and eight minor contexts based on Kim (2014). Next, online business networks among open data companies are analyzed using Bing API-based webometrics tool. Specifically, a total of ninety five companies belonging to “DATA & TECHNOLOGY” sector in Opendata500.com are chosen for current research. The results show that the majority of companies utilized open data in order to make a progress in product & service and supported decision making. Next, online business network analysis reveals that companies with a particular focus on B2B and B2C+B2B business models are located in the center of network diagram. On the other hand, B2G companies are relatively close to the periphery.

요 약
본 연구는 미국 기업의 오픈데이터 활용사례를 조사하고 기업들 간의 비즈니스 네트워크 분석을 하였다. 활용방식을 분류하기 위해 Kim (2014)의 항목을 사용하였으며, 비즈니스 네트워크 분석을 위해 Bing API를 이용하였다. 먼저, 미국의 “데이터와 기술” 관련 기업의 오픈데이터 활용사례를 분류하기 위해 사례분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 대부분의 “데이터와 기술” 관련 기업은 “제품 및 서비스 향상” 항목과 “의사결정지원” 항목으로 분류되었으며, 1개의 기업만이 “경영생산성 향상” 항목이었다. 이는 “데이터와 기술” 분야 기업들은 오픈데이터를 “제품 및 서비스 향상”과 “의사결정지원” 항목과 연관하여 활용하고 있지만, “경영생산성 향상” 항목과는 관계가 약하다는 것을 시사한다. 다음은 기업들 간의 비즈니스모델에 따른 네트워크 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, B2B모델과 B2C+B2B모델 기업들은 중심부에 집중되어 있었으며, 기업들 간 연결 강도도 강하였다. 반면에, B2G모델 기업들은 주변부에 위치해 있었으며, 기업들 간 연결 강도도 약하였다.
