In this Powerpoint I have shown three different examples of perfume adverts that subvert to the stereotypical perfume advert guideline. There are different takes on this however.

Subversive Perfume adverts Subversive Perfume adverts Presentation Transcript

    • Subversive
      • This is one example of a stereotypical perfume advert.
      • Armani have got an extremely popular and successful singer which
      • Subtly tells the viewer that they can become just like Beyonce in this
      • Case, if they buy this perfume.
      • The whole picture is in black and white, creating an expensive
      • and sophisticated look and the fact that she’s dressed in a
      • Sequined cocktail dress enhances this.
      • The stage lights in the top left hand corner of the advert
      • And the microphone shows that she’s in the middle of
      • performing. The idea of performing makes people think of
      • Confidence and self assurance. The advert is insinuating that
      • If you buy this perfume, you will suddenly have all of these
      • Desirable qualities.
      • It is an advertisement for Armani, so the target audience
      • Are definitely going to be those with money. I think the
      • target audience are independent women with high flying
      • careers.
      • Although this is another stereotypical
      • Advert, it takes a different twist to
      • the Armani Beyonce advert.
      • The similarity is that this has still
      • Got a well known and successful
      • Singer but instead of promoting fierce
      • Independence and confidence for
      • Women and sophistication, this
      • Conversely pictures soft femininity.
      • Most of the poster is in red and pinks
      • Which are typically thought of as
      • Female colours.
      • She’s entangled in flowers and
      • Foliage maybe hinting or gearing
      • Towards a females domestic side.
      • The only thing that gives this advert
      • A sensual twist is that she’s directly
      • Addressing us.
      • This is definitely a different take on a typical perfume advert. Instead of getting the model to dress in
      • A ball gown or a cocktail dress, she’s dressed quite casually in a loose top and trousers. Its been
      • Taken with quite a tranquil background of the sea. She looks at ease and is directly addressing the
      • Camera but with a smile. This could be saying that if you buy this perfume, you’ll become more of a
      • Care free and relaxed person. The name ‘Faith hill true’ conjures up thoughts of inner peace and
      • Morality.
