  • 1. Goodwin and Levi StraussThis video definitely follows a amplifying structureas it is following the story of a destructive love. The video shows binary oppositions in the cutaway scenes. The cutaway scenes where the heartis set on fire are meant to represent hell, which iswhere the actor goes after committing suicide.
  • 2. Sepia’s and colorsThe color saturation is warm and has an orange hue in thecutaway scenes that show Leona lip syncing. In the storyscenes, with the man and the woman in a relationship, thehue is blue and dreary conotating cynicism andforeshadowing the death that is to come. Anotherdemonstration of binary positions is shown through the deeporange saturation in the cutaway scenes that are meant todepict hell (hence the heart is on fire). Colorful hues of thissort are normally used to portray love and happy memories-not death and after life as it is in this case. The producersmay have used the reds and oranges to signify the sin ofsuicide instead.
