Evaluation Question Four- Who would be the audience for your media product?

My target audience is older teenagers .

Teenagers aging from around 15- 19 .

Mostly for those interested in Indie Pop music but also for most other genres of music.

I feel this is a good choice of target audience, as I am included in this age range and therefore I feel I will be able to create a more relevant magazine suited to this.

These are some Google images I found online, in which I think reflect my target audience. www.google.com
I feel like my choice of colour is aimed at more of a female audience. As typically purple is connoted with females. The general artists I have discussed on the cover are mainly aimed at a female audience, but can still appeal to a male audience. I feel like my main image could appeal to both a male and female audience. I feel as though my main image could be seen as having sex appeal through the choice of costume in which would appeal to a male audience, but also as a strong, confident woman through the models pose which would appeal to a female audience, as they can try to relate. This could be suitable for both a male and female audience because it is relevant for both audiences. I feel like the posing of my model could be seen to be aimed at more of a male audience, again through sex appeal
This could be aimed at a male and female audience as the ‘Fratellis’ are aimed at both audiences. This image is aimed more at a female audience through my choice of costume which is very ‘summery’ and ‘girly’ as well as my models pose. This is aimed at a female audience mainly, as the artist I was portraying was mainly aimed at a female audience. This could be aimed at both a male and female audience as the ‘Artic Monkeys’ are aimed at both audiences, as well as the general information These are aimed at mainly a female audience as these artist’s appeal to them more as they are mainly directly towards them.
I feel like the general content of my interview could appeal to both a male and female audience, however as my artist was mainly aimed at a female audience, I feel the interview would reflect this also. I feel like the choice of costume, as it’s floral which is typically connoted as ‘girly’ and the posing of my model would be aimed at more of a female audience.

Stereotypically the people who are usually interested in Indie Pop music tend to be very positive people.

I tried to capture this idea on to my own magazine by only including articles that were of a ‘positive light’ talking about stories of success.

I also tried to capture this within my interview, I didn’t want to include details on the artist’s ‘regrets’ or ‘bad experiences’ like it can tend to be in a one on one interview with an artist.

The questions I asked were regarding her latest success and therefore her answers were much more positive. For example ‘ So how does it feel knowing your first ever single has reached the number one in the charts’ I feel this is a great way to appeal to an indie pop audience, going with the idea that they are positive people.

This particular audience are also very well known for their individuality. They are very ‘original’ in their style and personality.

They do not ‘follow the trends’ of the general crowd, but more create their own.

They are happy with being their ‘own person’ and usually make friends with people who have similar values to this.

I tried to reflect this through my choice of costume. I tried to reflect a ‘quirkiness’ to reflect the idea of my artist being very individual and having her own style.

I decided to dress my model; my ‘artist’ in a summery dress and army boots. These would not ‘typically’ be placed together in an outfit and this is why I chose to have them together.

The outfit is ‘unique’, it’s a different ‘style’ rather than what is typically worn by people of the age of my target audience and I feel this is something that is usually done by people of my target audience.

I feel my audience, or people who are interested in the genre I have chosen tend to be drawn to music that they can relate to.

With lyrics that have meaning in contrast to other genre’s of music that can be argued to just be made in little time all with the same types of rhythm and beat.

Therefore, on my cover I decided to display artists that are from the same genre of music, and who I feel reflect this idea.

For Example:

Kate Nash

Ellie Goulding

Jason Mraz

And Florence and the Machine
