  • Media and technology play a very important role in our lives in today’s world. People all around the world rely on both these things everyday of their life. We rely on media for up to date information on news, sports, fashion, celebrities, etc.
  • Today we have social media outlets that allow us in many different ways to share our personal lives with not only people we know but some that we may not know. Websites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, to name a few, allow us to post statuses, tweet, and post pictures of our personal lives for people to see.
  • Facebook has become the largest social media site in the world. User growth has skyrocketed over the past 8 years.
  • Over 50% of the United States population has a facebook account and it continues to places all over the world. I would say that a great majority of the worlds population has a facebook account.
  • Facebook is becoming a huge media outlet for not only our generation but younger generations as well. I have seen a big change in what facebook is used for over the years when comparing the age groups that use this media outlet.
  • In about 2007, the company started to use advertisement for their financial benefit. Advertisements are everywhere on Facebook, they not only show up on your profile but on your timeline as well. The advertisements that appear on Facebook are different for each user.
  • The advertising was a big change for Facebook, not many users where happy about the change, most found it highly annoying. Rumors were spread that the company was taking your personal information and pictures and selling them to advertisers in exchange for profit.

  • While social media can have its positives, it can also be very negative. We have to remember not to put all our personal information for everyone to see online. We have to be safe and cautious.
