I mostly use e-‐journals Who use a library in 2010? Everything should be on the internet. I mainly use the e-‐journal/e-‐book resources, which i find excellent. However, the search func7ons are not great, so I usually locate ar7cles using google and use the library proxy to access them. The digital library is extremely useful Make a search engine where I can search for keywords in all the databases/e-‐journals available instead of having to go through every database/journal with one search word To be able to search the database! ... Which searches all the good databases that you have on your site. But on the same 7me! … It is also good when you cant specify which area your ”thing” is located in. An improved search engine on the papers we have access to through chalmers library Because we are doing projects and the most quick and effec:ve way is to get informa:on is to search on the internet. Help you to know more about different databases. Difficult to know which ones to use. Easier access to published technical reports (I found them very hard to find through the library web page and eventually turned to google instead).

Gränssnie – Allt det som kretsar kring aK ﬁnna bibliotekens tjänster och resurser. Det handlar om söktjänsternas uzormning och omfång. Men även om möjligheten aK kunna lista resurser/kompetenser och aK förmedla t ex bibliotekens referenstjänster. Systemleverantörerna kallar deKa för ”the front end” eller ”Discovery layer”, dvs det som användaren exponeras för och använder. Exempel: LIBRIS webbsök, lokal OPAC, Primo, WorldCat Local, Google, SwePub, Summon, EBSCO Discovery Service

Försörjning – Allt det som rör uppbyggnaden av våra samlingar. Det kan röra sig om förvärv av enskilda informa7onsresurser, mediebeskrivning, kataloguppbyggnad och uppräKandet av avtal. Det som systemleverantörerna kallar för ”the back end”, dvs bibliotekens interna hantering av informa7onsresurserna. Exempel: LIBRIS katalogsystem, lokalt ILS, SFX Knowledgebase, ERM, Ins:tu:onellt arkiv, 360 Core

Länkning – Länkningen förmedlar informa7on om en enskild resurs och kopplar ihop gränssniK med informa7onsförsörjning. Det enklaste säKet aK betrakta länkningen är som något som sker från en referensdatabas 7ll en fulltextdatabas. Men systemet för aK länka handlar egentligen om aK länka ihop informa7on och tjänster om enskilda resurser från ﬂera olika system. Det kan handla om lånestatus och 7llgång i fulltext, om Impact factor, omdömen och liknande resurser. Det kan även gälla länkning 7ll smarta beställningsfunk7oner för inköp eller {ärrlån. Content Harvest content from local and remotely hosted repositories and create a vastly comprehensive centralized index – to the ar7cle level – based on a normalized schema across content types, well suited for rapid search and retrieval of results ranked by relevancy. Content is enabled through the harves7ng of local library resources, combined with brokered agreements with publishers and aggregators allowing access to their metadata and/or full-‐text content for indexing purposes.

Discovery A single search box providing a Google-‐like search experience (as well as advanced searching capabili7es)

”Summon is enabling students to go directly to full-‐text, boos?ng the use of a variety of databases. For example, Academic Search Premier saw a usage increase of 92% and ABI/INFORM rose 354%. Journal usage is up significantly. Before Summon, the use of individual journals in which the library had invested was generally going down. However, aGer Summon’s implementa?on at the close of August 2009, GVSU’s top 100 journals showed an average increase in usage of 48% and the top 1000 had increased usage of 82%. Increased usage occurs even for databases from content providers that are not par?cipa?ng in the Summon service, a result of the service’s indexing of the same content from alternate sources. Summon is having an impact on the type of content students are choosing. For example, the library has seen a significant increase in the use of newspaper content.” Om effekterna av Summon vid Michigan’s Grand Valley State University

Hej! Jag är ganska ny på bibliotekssökningar och hiKade idag eK examensarbete som jag ville läsa (nr 4340). Därför gick jag 7ll biblioteket för aK låna det. Väl där hiKade jag det men fick även reda på aK det fanns som e-‐kopia vilket var vad jag ville ha i första hand. Därför hade jag sparat ca 20 minuter av min 7d om det hade ståK på sökresultatet jag fick i CHANS aK den fanns som e-‐kopia. Eller ännu bäKre, en länk 7ll e-‐kopians fulltext, precis som det finns i CPL (bibliotekarien visade mig). Summon is the shit, för övrigt! :)

Bra med många träffar och aK man sen kan avgränsa träfflistan. Har fåK posi7va omdömen från så goK som samtliga. ”Super!” Allmänt har det varit ee övervägande posi?vt moeagande LäKare aK söka när det ser ut som google Tydlig och bra layout på träfflistan, avgränsningar, förekomst i publika7onstyper, bibliografisk informa7on OGa med fulltextlänk direkt Många intressanta träffar, men får inte fram materialet i fulltext Får bara upp en massa 7dningsar7klar Enkelt och läe ae söka i. Ger bra resultat. Posi?va omdömen från flera studenter. Sökningen kändes för bred, det blev en hel del irrelevanta träffar ("som när man söker Google”) De föreslagna databaserna stämmer inte alls Skönt ae slippa välja vilken databas, ?dskriG eller ens typ av material när de söker. Många tycker det är svårt ae förstå skillnaden mellan de olika ingångarna ?ll vårt elektroniska material.
