Halong Bay – A beautiful landscapes of
Halong Bay is famous for a lady next to me uttered in wonder, ” Nature is the only sculptor that could
have created such a place “.It is charmed by its magnificence and natural beauty. Perhaps, it is difficult
to find another place where we can admire the majestic and romantic beauty as in Ha Long Bay of
Vietnam. Most often, visitors come and go and then return as they have been seduced by the beauty of
the landscapes. I could not think of words that seemed more fitting. These words were true not just of
the immense cave that we were standing it but Halong Bay as a whole. It is perhaps the most dramatic
landscape I have ever seen, with over 3000 rock forms/islands soaring out of the sea.
Quang Ninh province, a holy land, a land of ancient Vietnamese cultures, is located in the Northeast of
Vietnam. It is famous not only for its ancient Buddhism culture but also for a natural World Heritage of
Halong Bay. Ha Long Bay is located in the Gulf of Tonkin and is made up of 1,969 islands of various sizes,
989 of which have been given names. The bay itself has an area of 434 square km, consists of 775
islands, and forms a triangle with the island of Dau Go (Driftwood Grotto) to the West, the lake of Ba
Ham (Three Shelter Lake) to the South, and the island of Cong Tay to the East

The weather was not condusive to the best photos but hopefully the ones I have taken will convey some
idea of the scenary that surrounded me for the 2 days that I sailed around Halong Bay. If anything the
storm clouds added to the drama of it all.
The cruise was made up of a lovely but completely bizarre collection of people. Most random of the
group was this Russian guy, there with Vietnamese interpreter as he did not speak a word of english. He
proceed to live up to the stereotype and guzzled vodka for the entire trip, standing up and toasting
before every shot.
