“ISPORT – MORE THAN SPORTS” PROGRAM
I. OBJECTIVES
- Carry-out a project for community as requirement of Experiential Learning
course of Bachelor of Science in Management Program at International School
– Vietnam National University, Hanoi;
- Learn how to work in team thanks to team sports;
- Provide participants with important lessons on personal value;
- Encourage participants to become active and overcome shyness;
- Give opportunities for students to apply their knowledge into practice that
serves community and society needs;
- Raise students’ awareness about community interest.
II. TIME & LOCATION
1. Time: Sunday, 15/9/2013
- 8:15 – 9:15 Set up
- 9:15 – 12:15 Games
- 12:15 – 1:00 Clean-up
2. Location: HACINCO Football ground, No.99 Nguy Nhu Kon Tum street,
Thanh Xuan, Hanoi.
III. PARTICIPANTS
- 4 teams with 80 players (20 players/ team) are students studying at IS-VNU
and students joining IStar Contest;
- 90 students of VISK2010D, VISK2010E, VISK2010F class, coming from
Bachelor of Science in Management Program at International School – Vietnam
National University, Hanoi;
- 01 foreign professor, being responsible for community projects in Experiential
Learning course;

- Honored guests as professors and lecturers coming from deparments at IS-
VNU;
- Every participant is strongly recommended to bring hats, umbrellas and wear
casual clothes and comfortable shoes which are convenient for joining activties.
IV. CONTENT OF PROGRAM
IV.1. Games
- 4 teams recommend their representatives as required number of players in
each game to join 10 games;
IV.1.1. “Relay Race”
- Number of players: 4 players/ team
- Materials: Sticks
- Rounds: 3
- The players of each team have to run and pass the stick to each other in turn.
At the point of passing the stick, the players have to implement a task with coach
supervision. The players are only allowed to pass the stick to his teammates after
finishing the tasks. The winner is the team finishing all the tasks first.
Task at point 1: Caculating a short maths equation. (The first player carries-out)
Task at point 2: Eating snack. (The second player carries-out)
Task at point 3: Threading a needle. (The third player carries-out)
Task at point 4: Carrying on one’s back. (The forth player carries on the third
one’s back)
IV.1.2. “Flag war”
- Number of players: 10 players/ team (5 pairs/ team)
- Materials: Flags
- Round: 3
- 5 pairs in each team carry on each other’s back. Each flags is attached to the
person being on the back. Each team has to rob the flags of the opponent team while
the person being on the back is not allowed to fall down. The team robbing the 5 flags
first is the winner.

IV.1.3. “Handball-Protect the queen”
- Number of players: 5 players/ team (1 girl & 4 boys)
- Materials: a ball
- Round: 3
- Each team stands in the fixed ground as coach’s requirement. The team throws
the ball each other and tries to hit the girl (the queen) of the other team. The boys have
to protect the queen to make sure the ball can not “touch” the queen. The boys who are
hitted by the ball have to go out side the ground and continue to throw the ball. The
team hitting the queen first will be the winner.
IV.1.4. “Follow-my-leader & Pop balloons”
- Number of players: 5 players/ team
- Materials: String and balloons
- Duration: 5 minutes/ round
- Round: 3
- Every member in each team clings onto waist of each other in a line. Balloons
are tied with string next to the waists of the member standing at the end of each line
(team). The leader standing at the top of each line is responsible for bursting the
balloons of the other teams while trying to protect his team members. During the
game, if the team members make the line cut, the team will fail.
IV.1.5. “Play balls with spoons”
- Number of players: 5 players/ team
- Materials: Ping-pong balls, spoons, 2 baskets, obstacles
- Duration: 5 minutes
- There is one round. 4 teams play together to pass ping-pong balls with spoons
held in mouth and run over designed obstacles. The winner is the team being able to
bring the biggest number of balls in duration.
IV.1.6. “2 people-3legs”
- Number of players: 10 players/ team (5 pairs/ team)
- Materials: String, balloons

- Round: 3
- Duration: 3 minutes/ round
- Each pair runs with tied legs in turn to bring balloons to the finished line. The
team who get the greatest number of balloons will be the winner.
IV.1.7. “Dancing man”
- Number of players: 2 players/ team
- Materials: Stickers, pens, music
- Round: 3
- Duration: 8 minutes/ round
- Each team receives pieces of paper from the coach. During the first 5 minutes,
each team write “requirment on to the pieces of paper” then stick them from the top to
the bottom of the opponent. Each team has to write and stick as many pieces as
possible. Then, in the next 3 minutes, every player has to dance with music until there
aren’t any pieces of paper left on his body. The player who still has the pieces of paper
on his body has to do the requirement written on them.
IV.1.8. “Jumping bags”
- Number of players: 10 players/ team (5 pairs/ team; 1 boy & 1 girl/ pair)
- Materials: bags, flags
- There is one round. 5 pairs of 4 teams play at the same time. Each pair uses 1
bag to jump to the line ahead to pick flag of nations as coach’s requirment then jump
back the “start” line; then, the next pair continues to jump. The length of the way “start
– middle – finish” is 20 meters. The coach says about 10 requirements of flags. In the
end, the team getting the correct flags with the biggest number is the winner.
IV.1.9. “Secret box”
- Number of players: 10 players/ team (5 pairs/ team)
- Materials: boxes, boards, 10 items/ box
- Duration: 3 minutes
- There is one round. 4 teams play at the same time. There are 4 boxes
containing items. Each player of each team picks 1 item in his team box while he is not
allowed to see what item is. Then, he has to describe the item without saying to other

members to guess and write the answer on the board. The players will decribe and
answer in pairs. The team guessing correctly the larger number of items is the winner.
IV.1.10. “Tug of war”
- Number of players: 10 players/ team
- Tool: Long thick rope, markers
- Rounds: 3
- The teams start with the rope's centre line directly above a line marked on the
ground, and once the contest (the "pull") has commenced, attempt to pull the other
team such that the marking on the rope closest to their opponent crosses the centre
line, or the opponents commit a foul (such as a team member sitting or falling down).
IV.2. Rasing fund activities
- During the ISport, the students sell food and drink to raise fund for charity.
Specifically, water bottles which are sold 5.000 VND/ bottle are donated by sponsors.
- The class which wants to sell at ISport has to register to class VISK2010F
before Thursday (Sep 12th). The organizer will set up tables for each shop with price
of 100.000 VND/ table.

[FP401] "ISport" Project Plan

  • 1. INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL – VIETNAM NATIONAL UNIVERSITY BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN MANAGEMENT PROGRAM ____________________ Hanoi, September 10th , 2013 “ISPORT – MORE THAN SPORTS” PROGRAM I. OBJECTIVES - Carry-out a project for community as requirement of Experiential Learning course of Bachelor of Science in Management Program at International School – Vietnam National University, Hanoi; - Learn how to work in team thanks to team sports; - Provide participants with important lessons on personal value; - Encourage participants to become active and overcome shyness; - Give opportunities for students to apply their knowledge into practice that serves community and society needs; - Raise students’ awareness about community interest. II. TIME & LOCATION 1. Time: Sunday, 15/9/2013 - 8:15 – 9:15 Set up - 9:15 – 12:15 Games - 12:15 – 1:00 Clean-up 2. Location: HACINCO Football ground, No.99 Nguy Nhu Kon Tum street, Thanh Xuan, Hanoi. III. PARTICIPANTS - 4 teams with 80 players (20 players/ team) are students studying at IS-VNU and students joining IStar Contest; - 90 students of VISK2010D, VISK2010E, VISK2010F class, coming from Bachelor of Science in Management Program at International School – Vietnam National University, Hanoi; - 01 foreign professor, being responsible for community projects in Experiential Learning course; 1
  • 2. - Honored guests as professors and lecturers coming from deparments at IS- VNU; - Every participant is strongly recommended to bring hats, umbrellas and wear casual clothes and comfortable shoes which are convenient for joining activties. IV. CONTENT OF PROGRAM IV.1. Games - 4 teams recommend their representatives as required number of players in each game to join 10 games; IV.1.1. “Relay Race” - Number of players: 4 players/ team - Materials: Sticks - Rounds: 3 - The players of each team have to run and pass the stick to each other in turn. At the point of passing the stick, the players have to implement a task with coach supervision. The players are only allowed to pass the stick to his teammates after finishing the tasks. The winner is the team finishing all the tasks first. Task at point 1: Caculating a short maths equation. (The first player carries-out) Task at point 2: Eating snack. (The second player carries-out) Task at point 3: Threading a needle. (The third player carries-out) Task at point 4: Carrying on one’s back. (The forth player carries on the third one’s back) IV.1.2. “Flag war” - Number of players: 10 players/ team (5 pairs/ team) - Materials: Flags - Round: 3 - 5 pairs in each team carry on each other’s back. Each flags is attached to the person being on the back. Each team has to rob the flags of the opponent team while the person being on the back is not allowed to fall down. The team robbing the 5 flags first is the winner. 2
  • 3. IV.1.3. “Handball-Protect the queen” - Number of players: 5 players/ team (1 girl & 4 boys) - Materials: a ball - Round: 3 - Each team stands in the fixed ground as coach’s requirement. The team throws the ball each other and tries to hit the girl (the queen) of the other team. The boys have to protect the queen to make sure the ball can not “touch” the queen. The boys who are hitted by the ball have to go out side the ground and continue to throw the ball. The team hitting the queen first will be the winner. IV.1.4. “Follow-my-leader & Pop balloons” - Number of players: 5 players/ team - Materials: String and balloons - Duration: 5 minutes/ round - Round: 3 - Every member in each team clings onto waist of each other in a line. Balloons are tied with string next to the waists of the member standing at the end of each line (team). The leader standing at the top of each line is responsible for bursting the balloons of the other teams while trying to protect his team members. During the game, if the team members make the line cut, the team will fail. IV.1.5. “Play balls with spoons” - Number of players: 5 players/ team - Materials: Ping-pong balls, spoons, 2 baskets, obstacles - Duration: 5 minutes - There is one round. 4 teams play together to pass ping-pong balls with spoons held in mouth and run over designed obstacles. The winner is the team being able to bring the biggest number of balls in duration. IV.1.6. “2 people-3legs” - Number of players: 10 players/ team (5 pairs/ team) - Materials: String, balloons 3
  • 4. - Round: 3 - Duration: 3 minutes/ round - Each pair runs with tied legs in turn to bring balloons to the finished line. The team who get the greatest number of balloons will be the winner. IV.1.7. “Dancing man” - Number of players: 2 players/ team - Materials: Stickers, pens, music - Round: 3 - Duration: 8 minutes/ round - Each team receives pieces of paper from the coach. During the first 5 minutes, each team write “requirment on to the pieces of paper” then stick them from the top to the bottom of the opponent. Each team has to write and stick as many pieces as possible. Then, in the next 3 minutes, every player has to dance with music until there aren’t any pieces of paper left on his body. The player who still has the pieces of paper on his body has to do the requirement written on them. IV.1.8. “Jumping bags” - Number of players: 10 players/ team (5 pairs/ team; 1 boy & 1 girl/ pair) - Materials: bags, flags - There is one round. 5 pairs of 4 teams play at the same time. Each pair uses 1 bag to jump to the line ahead to pick flag of nations as coach’s requirment then jump back the “start” line; then, the next pair continues to jump. The length of the way “start – middle – finish” is 20 meters. The coach says about 10 requirements of flags. In the end, the team getting the correct flags with the biggest number is the winner. IV.1.9. “Secret box” - Number of players: 10 players/ team (5 pairs/ team) - Materials: boxes, boards, 10 items/ box - Duration: 3 minutes - There is one round. 4 teams play at the same time. There are 4 boxes containing items. Each player of each team picks 1 item in his team box while he is not allowed to see what item is. Then, he has to describe the item without saying to other 4
  • 5. members to guess and write the answer on the board. The players will decribe and answer in pairs. The team guessing correctly the larger number of items is the winner. IV.1.10. “Tug of war” - Number of players: 10 players/ team - Tool: Long thick rope, markers - Rounds: 3 - The teams start with the rope's centre line directly above a line marked on the ground, and once the contest (the "pull") has commenced, attempt to pull the other team such that the marking on the rope closest to their opponent crosses the centre line, or the opponents commit a foul (such as a team member sitting or falling down). IV.2. Rasing fund activities - During the ISport, the students sell food and drink to raise fund for charity. Specifically, water bottles which are sold 5.000 VND/ bottle are donated by sponsors. - The class which wants to sell at ISport has to register to class VISK2010F before Thursday (Sep 12th). The organizer will set up tables for each shop with price of 100.000 VND/ table. V. JOBS ALLOCATION V.1.
