How effective is the combination of your main How effective is the combination of your main Presentation Transcript

  • How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts (these are your poster and radio trailer)? By Hai Yen Nguyen Candidate Number 3676 Centre Number 10508
  • Film Poster
    • Film posters are served as a form of advertising the film; they are used to attract customers into the going to the theatre or video store to watch the movie and are also uses artistic interpretations of a scene or even the theme of the film, represented in a wide variety of artistic styles. Despite the fact, that like any other kind of advertising, they can be deceptive. A film poster usually contains images with texts. The text usually contains the film title in large lettering and often the names of the main actors.
    • Vantage Point
    • We used this film poster as a idea and developed it onto our owe version by using the this as a Skelton
    • 7
    • The final film poster
  • Images and Colours
    • The images on the film poster convey a sense of the mood of the film. Thriller films tend to use clues and hints from the film and drama films convey a sense of seriousness and depressing images. The colour scheme is also an important subject to look at. We focused to using harsh and strong colours because it tends to represent an emotional or intense film.
  • Cast
    • It is important to note the names of the film stars. If their names are shown above the title of the film, or their faces are featured in the artwork, the studio and the audience wants you to know who's in it. This is used to sell the film and persuade the audience to watch the film.
  • The film’s tag line or catch phrase
    • The idea behind the concept is to create a memorable phrase that will sum up the film as a whole and also gives a tone to the film by creating meaning to it.
  • Release Date
    • The film's release date on the poster is vital to have on a film poster because it’s important information that the audience needs to know in order to watch the film. Film posters that are released early will often be unexplained or intriguing, intended to entice your curiosity without revealing too much about the film.
  • Text
    • Deciding the style of the text is essential. A thriller/drama film will have bold technique because it stands out and readable.
  • Radio Trailer
    • A radio trailer is short previews of the film and is used as film advertisements. A radio trailer only allows the audience to hear sounds from the film not the image. They consist of a series of selected shots from the film and since the main purpose of the radio trailer is to attract an audience to the film, these extract are usually drawn from the most exciting, interesting or else significant parts of the film but in shortened form and generally without having any spoilers.
  • Structure of a Radio Trailer
    • The majority of trailers have a three-act structure. It will start with a beginning that sets out the premise of the story. Then the middle where it drives the story further to the dramatic climax. Finally ends with a strong piece of “signature music” or “sound effect” The last act often consists of a powerful and emotional moment in the film and may also contain a cast run if there are notable stars that could help sell the movie.
    • We used this structure of our radio trailer. Starting with the film tag line (they say 7 is a lucky number…but is it?), then main purpose (2 men 2 POV) and ending with the climax of the film with an explosion.
  • Voice-over
    • A voice-over narration is used to briefly lays up the premise of the movie and provide explanation when it is necessary. Since movies weigh heavily on its trailer, the voice-over is a useful tool to enhance the audience's understanding of the plot.
    • We used the voice over in the middle of the radio trailer saying “2 men 2 points of view…” This is so the audience has the main idea of what our film is about.
  • Music
    • The music helps set the tone and mood of the trailer/film. Usually the music used in the radio trailer is not from the film itself but if they are this is called film score.
    • A film score is the background music of the film. The piece of music, within a film's score, is called a cue and is typically a composition for instruments (e.g. orchestra)
    • For our radio trailer the film score a orchestra playing dramatic music
