Attack the block is a film targeted at young adults aged 15 to 35 as it is a urban hybrid genre and
the films leading characters are young teenagers this aids the film makes to target young adults as
they as they can relate to the storyline and characters and also would like to see how they are
represented within the media
Film Posters are a efficient way to advertise, promote purposes They are a frequent tool of
advertisers particularly of events, musicians and films
And as they can be place almost anywhere to attract audiences attention for e.g. Buses, Billboards
and online (social networking sites).
In the Attack the block poster there are lots of genre signifies ,it is important for the film makers
to clearly identify the genre to the audience to aid the audience pick the film based on its genre.
On the poster the
asteroids falling from
the sky gives the film
somewhat more of a
sci-fi element this help
identify the genre for
the audience and
widens the target
audience by making the
film a hybrid genre.
The Tagline on the poster ‘inner city VS outer space
automatically Delivers a per-conceptions of the binary
opposition to the constructed audience.
the use of teenagers
on the poster makes it
deliver the urban
aspect of the film and
also attracts that
target audience as
they would be drawn
to view this film to see
how they are
presented within the
film.
The font and size of the title help create an enigma
code which attracts the targets audience a makes
them want to go a view the film.
Having A character
that dose not suit the
mix of the characters
and the target
audience for e.g. a 21
yr. old female Student
helps widen the
target audience and
appeal to more
women.
A motif of grime film posters is to align all the main characters on the poster in order to set up a form of
narrative and neatly expose the genre of the film. The characters appear to be almost within a freeze
frame of action, which captivates the target audience and evokes a sense of curiosity which may en
courage them to see the film. This freeze frame is particularly effective in giving people an insight to the
narrative and allowing the audience to almost embrace the action.
By adding a
grown 30 yr. old
man who is
presented a
stoner
unemployed lazy
man this helps
widen the target
audience as
unemployed
men what to see
how they are
represented and
also widens the
audience with
the comedy
aspect of his
characters role.
The characters on the poster have been conducted to appeal to
the target audience by putting all the teenagers together it
conveys an image of a gangs which widens the target audience as
young people would like to see how they are portrayed.
The film makers
constructed the
poster to appeal to
a wider audience as
the characters are
all from different
ethnic background
which suggest that
the movie delivers
ethnic stereotype
which make people
want to see how
they are presented
in the film
The character in the middles Stance suggest to the
audience that he is a leading character this helps
attack the target audience as it will appeal to the
teenage audience
The characters clothing
also engages the
audience by representing
teenagers and widening
the audience as the
teens what to know how
they are perceived.
This film poster
widens its target
audience as the
posters secondary
image was the city of
London (the Gherkin)
this broadens the
audience a London
citizens seem will fill
drawn to this specific
movie because of the
iconic buildings
The use of the low angle
shot portrays the block
as menacing. This
appeals to the audience
because it foreshadows
upcoming events within
the film hence the
reason why the block
looks so threatening. the
visual coding of the block
also helps to widen the
target audience as
people who live in locks
and flats what to see
how they are
represented and
perceived within the
media.
By mentioning the
similarity's between
Shaun of the dead
and attack the block
this helps extend the
target audience as
Shaun of the dead
was a big hit on the
box office some of the
fans may notice the
synergy between the
two and go and watch
the film as this aids
the film makers to
make this film a big
success.
Attack the block has
also included a social
media page for the
film. This assists
audience when
gathering information
on the film. Having a
social medias for a
movie is a smart idea
to engage and also
resaves feedback and
also widen the
audience as there are
over 2 billion people
on facebook.
