Consumer energy management is tradtionally a low-involvement category. Utilities are challenged to engage customers as participants in emerging “smart grid” programs that promise to lower customer bills while harnessing demand-side energy resources. This presentation reviews utility industry efforts to employ game mechanics in motivating customers to engage in smart energy management behaviors.

  • bin95 Business Industrial Network at Business Industrial Network Great PowerPoint, very informative, had to add to my favorites. the end-user (consumer) has a huge effective on driving energy savings up. Just like they drove oil dependency down by driving less because the economy made consumers more cost aware. Smart appliances, smart phone apps to save, etc. will have a great long term ROI for consumers and the country. Always wonder why in this day in age, appliance still power step-down transformer, when an internal battery could power appliance clock, until consumer needs appliance. Also amazed we still allow the sell of wall light switches, when there should only be available timer and smart light switches. It's like people still being able to buy incandescent light bulbs. Luckily people can no longer buy the old energy hog refrigerators or those old osculating fans that weighed a ton and move very little air. :>) 10 months ago
