    • Social Media Success
      • You will find that several factors are key to the success of the activities of an organization that is present in the field of “Social Media”. When considering a thing like personal branding; an individual wants to present himself online, similar factors come in to play.
      • Here, different ideas and thoughts have been put together in a simple model, based on 5 steps or values. It would go to far to see these as fixed rules, though they can be seen as good guidelines to achieve success in “Social Media”.
      • Before looking at the model, some other points:
      • Real innovation will rarely commit to any rules or expectations
      • Several approaches are possible to Social Media
      • Passion is widely considered to be a main value

    • Social Media Success A simple model, in 5 steps *) Gyurka Jansen 2009
    • Social Media Success Knowledge can be divided in knowledge of product and service and knowledge of the internet in a broad sense or social media in particular. Of course knowledge about what one tries to communicate is necessary but knowledge about social media is necessary to communicate in the right way. Gyurka Jansen 2009
    • Social Media Success Passion for the internet and “social networks”; passion for the medium which is used. And of course, above all; passion about the message, the product or the service. On the internet “real” and “truthful” are widely appreciated. Passion is needed to come across as real in both use of the medium and spirit of the story. Gyurka Jansen 2009
    • Social Media Success Time is something you will have to invest. Invest in your network and be patient because it will not work for you within a single day or even week. For both individual and organization goes; give before taking. One has to sow goodwill, in a way, before being able to reap the profits of Social Media. This will take time! Gyurka Jansen 2009
    • Social Media Success Original Content, new content, is necessary. Be original! Visitors will need a reason to go somewhere! And in the case of personal branding; why will they pick you? Show your knowledge and values. And a bit of humor will never hurt you either. Gyurka Jansen 2009
    • Social Media Success The Environment is all around you, an important factor over which you do not seem to have any control. Never forget though, that everyone is part of the environment of someone else! Use knowledge and passion to renew yourself, be flexible and change your community or your presentation when your environment deems necessary. Gyurka Jansen 2009
