 Paytm eyes IPL title sponsorship
Paytm – the mobile commerce firm - is eyeing the title sponsorship rights of the Indian Premier League
(IPL), if Pepsi pulls out. The company recently bagged a four-year deal worth INR 203-crore as BCCI's title
sponsor for the country’s domestic and international home cricket matches. The company has recently
allocated millions of dollars for brand promotion and marketing in India, after it received USD 500 million in
fresh funding from Alibaba, the Chinese e-commerce giant.
 Flipkart opens warehouse in Gurgaon
Flipkart announced the opening of its fulfillment centre in Luhari, Gurgaon, in order to meet the growing
demand for consumer electronics and durables in the northern region of the country. The warehouse is set
up to stock consumer electronics and durables like washing machines, refrigerators, TVs, ACs and
microwave ovens. The facility has a total storage capacity of five lakh cubic feet spread over one lakh
square feet, which will help in quicker delivery in north Indian states of Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab
and Madhya Pradesh. With this, the ecommerce giant’s total number of warehouses has gone up to 17
with 1.5 million square feet of storage capacity across India.
 Flipkart sells half a million mobile handsets in 10 hours
Flipkart sold half a million mobile handsets as part of its ‘The Big Billion Days’ sale within 10 hours. This has
set a record of selling the highest number of mobile phones in India within 10 hours in any platform, either
offline or online. About 75 percent of the phones sold were 4G phones, which were driven by the demand
from metros such as Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Tier II cities such as Indore, Coimbatore, Nagpur,
Vishakhapatnam and Jaipur. The festive sale will be on from October 13 – 17, 2015.
 Ezetap makes mobile ecash payment easy for merchants
Ezetap Mobile Solutions has tied up with mobile wallet companies such as MobiKwik, Paytm, Freecharge
and Novopay in order to facilitate ewallet usage on its point-of-sale devices. The move is the first-of-its-
kind and is expected to help the merchants to accept payments from a ewallet using single-factor
authentication or tap-and-pay method. The company is further in talks with several cab aggregators to
enable the single solution platform and introduction of standardised transaction rates for all mwallets.

 Paytm, The MobileStore to launch FED
Paytm intends to start a new service - Fastest Expert Delivery (FED) – in collaboration with The MobileStore
that will deliver products to customers within two hours from the time of receiving the order. Initially, the
ecommerce portal will invest INR 100 crore to start this service and hopes to generate additional revenues
of INR 4,000 crore from the platform within one year. This initiative is a mix of offline and online business
since experts who deliver the product will also be able to demonstrate its features to the customer. Many
brands are expected to come on board to increase the value of the offering. The initiative will cover 465
outlets across 72 Indian cities. In addition to mobile devices, it plans to expand the product portfolio to
washing machines, refrigerators and air conditioners are also being considered.

 TVS Capital invests in FSN Ecommerce
TVS Shriram Growth Fund has invested INR 25 crore in FSN Ecommerce Ventures – the online retailer of
beauty and wellness products under the Nykaa brand. The investment will help TVS to tap the
ecommerce market and accelerate growth in Nykaa’s existing business, scale up marketing efforts and
facilitate in launching a private label business. The beauty etailer provides 35,000 products for women
covering over 350 brands across the globe.
 FreeCharge to invest on marketing, promotions this year
FreeCharge - the mobile transactions platform owned by Snapdeal - announced plans to spend INR 1,000
crore in the next 10-12 months to position its wallet services as the preferential payment mode. The
investment is intended for marketing and promotional activities that will accelerate adoption and usage
of the service, which is becoming the preferred payment mode for cab services and other 'app'-driven
services such as utility bills and e-commerce purchases. The mobile wallet service was launched in
partnership with Yes Bank last month and has already garnered two million users.

Flipkart, Paytm eye new opportunities in ecommerce, mobile payments

Ltd., 2015 1 Industry News  Paytm eyes IPL title sponsorship Paytm – the mobile commerce firm - is eyeing the title sponsorship rights of the Indian Premier League (IPL), if Pepsi pulls out. The company recently bagged a four-year deal worth INR 203-crore as BCCI's title sponsor for the country’s domestic and international home cricket matches. The company has recently allocated millions of dollars for brand promotion and marketing in India, after it received USD 500 million in fresh funding from Alibaba, the Chinese e-commerce giant.  Flipkart opens warehouse in Gurgaon Flipkart announced the opening of its fulfillment centre in Luhari, Gurgaon, in order to meet the growing demand for consumer electronics and durables in the northern region of the country. The warehouse is set up to stock consumer electronics and durables like washing machines, refrigerators, TVs, ACs and microwave ovens. The facility has a total storage capacity of five lakh cubic feet spread over one lakh square feet, which will help in quicker delivery in north Indian states of Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh. With this, the ecommerce giant’s total number of warehouses has gone up to 17 with 1.5 million square feet of storage capacity across India.  Flipkart sells half a million mobile handsets in 10 hours Flipkart sold half a million mobile handsets as part of its ‘The Big Billion Days’ sale within 10 hours. This has set a record of selling the highest number of mobile phones in India within 10 hours in any platform, either offline or online. About 75 percent of the phones sold were 4G phones, which were driven by the demand from metros such as Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Tier II cities such as Indore, Coimbatore, Nagpur, Vishakhapatnam and Jaipur. The festive sale will be on from October 13 – 17, 2015.  Ezetap makes mobile ecash payment easy for merchants Ezetap Mobile Solutions has tied up with mobile wallet companies such as MobiKwik, Paytm, Freecharge and Novopay in order to facilitate ewallet usage on its point-of-sale devices. The move is the first-of-its- kind and is expected to help the merchants to accept payments from a ewallet using single-factor authentication or tap-and-pay method. The company is further in talks with several cab aggregators to enable the single solution platform and introduction of standardised transaction rates for all mwallets. Investment News  Paytm, The MobileStore to launch FED Paytm intends to start a new service - Fastest Expert Delivery (FED) – in collaboration with The MobileStore that will deliver products to customers within two hours from the time of receiving the order. Initially, the ecommerce portal will invest INR 100 crore to start this service and hopes to generate additional revenues of INR 4,000 crore from the platform within one year. This initiative is a mix of offline and online business since experts who deliver the product will also be able to demonstrate its features to the customer. Many brands are expected to come on board to increase the value of the offering. The initiative will cover 465 outlets across 72 Indian cities. In addition to mobile devices, it plans to expand the product portfolio to washing machines, refrigerators and air conditioners are also being considered.   • 2.  TVS Capital invests in FSN Ecommerce TVS Shriram Growth Fund has invested INR 25 crore in FSN Ecommerce Ventures – the online retailer of beauty and wellness products under the Nykaa brand. The investment will help TVS to tap the ecommerce market and accelerate growth in Nykaa’s existing business, scale up marketing efforts and facilitate in launching a private label business. The beauty etailer provides 35,000 products for women covering over 350 brands across the globe.  FreeCharge to invest on marketing, promotions this year FreeCharge - the mobile transactions platform owned by Snapdeal - announced plans to spend INR 1,000 crore in the next 10-12 months to position its wallet services as the preferential payment mode. The investment is intended for marketing and promotional activities that will accelerate adoption and usage of the service, which is becoming the preferred payment mode for cab services and other 'app'-driven services such as utility bills and e-commerce purchases.
