  • Introduction to Indian Navy Electrical Branch
  • The Indian Navy also relies on information technology to face the challenges of the 21st century. The Indian Navy is implementing a new strategy to move from a platform centric force to a network-centric force by linking all shore-based installations and ships via high-speed data networks and satellites, here arises a need of officers who can deal with highly advance equipments and machines, on the sea and on shores.
A Warship has its own power generation and distribution system. In addition, complex weapon systems, missile systems, underwater weapons, radars and radio communication equipment form a major part of a warship's equipment. A majority of these are either computer-based or computer-aided and incorporate the latest trends in electronics and microwave engineering. An Electrical officer has to work with computer-aided weapon systems, missile systems, underwater weapons, radars and raid communication equipment.
An Electrical Engineer has to manage Sangraha,  the joint electronic warfare programme of the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Navy For a ship to be able to fight effectively, all this equipment must be kept working at peak efficiency. Electrical Officers have opportunities to do post-graduate courses in India and abroad.
