Operators have great capacity, but unevenly distributed shared. Water Operators’ Partnerships a key component of UNSGAB’s Hashimoto Action Plan to step up effort to achieve MDGs

      • Platform for Latin America and the Caribbean launched in 2007 in Recife, Brazil
      • collaboration between IDB and UN-Habitat, supported by AIDIS and IWA
      • Numerous Twinning and Capacity Building programmes implemented under WOPs umbrella throughout the region

    • Recognition of distinct Caribbean character and needs
    • Foundation Meeting Georgetown, May 2009
    • Majority of region’s water operators represented
    • Outcome – willingness and support to intensified and systematic twinning and peer support amongst water operators in the Caribbean

    • CariWOP to be run as joint programme of CBWMP and CWWA
    • Concrete programme of opportunities for operators to exchange skills and know-how
