Here is a more concise version of a planner I put together a couple of years back, designed to align better with MYP. It might help with your planning - it does with mine.

Key to the update are:
- emphasis on concept-based approach
- inclusion of approaches to learning
- explicit section for 4PSOW
- differentiation based on Tomlinson's work
- emphasis on the importance of ongoing assessment and feedback

  • @bassonist Hi - thanks for the comment. Very much so - I think the concept-based approach is important, yet we need to make the systems work for us as teachers. A planning document should be useful to us, as well as a valuable admin tool.

  • @msk-ibbio Thanks (I've re-uploaded with another minor update). I'm trying to streamline it, yet include some ideas on differentiation and a section for addressing the 4PSOW. I'll be interested to see what will happen when Approaches to Teaching and Learning are introduced in DP.

  • As always, thank you. I still use the one from a few years back and this update looks really good. I tried to convince my whole school to adopt the previous version. Will try again with this version.

  • Thanks for sharing this. You must do your planning very thoroughly.
I bought a book a couple of years ago 'learning by design' after a blog post you wrote, do your ideas about planning still draw from this approach?
