Headsail (Jib) trimming 3 Falling off ( Bearing )
Sailing upwind
Assume port tack closehold
Make sure jib and mailsail trimmed well
Wind flow for windward and leeward are smooth
If not trimmer should adjust sail
Skipper calls Bearing
Skipper start steer yacht to leeward slowly
mail sail trimmer ease mainsail
Jim trimmer ease jibsail
Change direction of a yacht procedure – Tacking
Assume boat position is closehald port tack ( wind from left side )
Skipper
Check if cockpit is ready for Tacking
Call “ Tacking “ and start steering yacht to windward
Keep steering yacht
Stop steering when yacht position get Closehold ( port tack )
Jib sail trimmer windward ( port )
Set winch handle and let Skipper know you are ready
Ready for pull in Jib sheet with two crew ( winch and sheet hold )
Wait jib sheet leeward side released then pulling in jib sheet
Pulling in jib sheet until both side of telltail get right wind flow
Jib sail trimmer leeward ( starboard )
Hold jib sheet by hand and let Skipper know you are ready
Wait yacht bow toward wind direction ( Jib sail start recieving back wind )
When bow start steering to leeward side, release jib sheet completely
Support/help windward side crew
Tacking completed
Change direction of a yacht procedure – Jibing
Assume boat position is running starboard tack ( wind from right side )
Skipper
Check if cockpit is ready for jibing
Call “ jibe “ and start steering yacht to leeward
Make sure boom reach to center, steer yacht from dead running to starboard running
Stop steering when yacht position is starboard running
Main Sail trimmer
Jib sail trimmer can handle main sail sheet as well

Running sail Gennaker
What’s Gennaker
Sail for downwind
Easy handling ( without spinpole )
Head – Spin Halyard To mast head
Tack - Bow split line
Clew – Spin sheet to cockpit ( Port & Starboard )
Socks make easy to hoist and drop
Hoist with socks on then socks down
Structure of Gennaker
When we hoist Gennaker, socks should be on
Head – Spin Halyard To mast head
Tack - Bow split line
Clew – Spin sheet to cockpit ( Port & Starboard )
Socks is controlled by two blue lines
Hoist Gennaker
Assume boat position is abeam to broadreach
Skipper
Call “ Gennaker Set “
Call “ Hoist “
Keep yacht direction straight
Bow man
Bring Gennaker bag to bow and set Tack and Crew
Support Gennaker going out from a sail bag
Check all lines are clear then go back to cockpit

Pull in Spin Halyard to top
Then Socks up by blue line

Cockpit ( Spin sheet trimmer )
Make sure spin sheets are not tangled
Farling jib line to fold jib sail and trim Gennaker by spin sheet
Fly Gennaker as far as you can
Hoist Gennaker completed
Jibe with Gennaker
Assume boat position is abeam to broadreach ( starboad tack )
Skipper
Call “ preparing for Jibe “
Call “ Jibe “ and steer a yacht to leeward
When Gennaker clew fly further than forestay, steer bow to left ( windward )
Keep steer slowly till right direction ( now yacht is port tack )
Main Sail Trimmer
Pulling in main sheet until boom reach to center position

Trim spin sheet ( port ) to keep Gennaker fly
Ease spin sheet to fly Gennaker as far
After make sure Gennaker clew clear forestay, release spinsheet ( port )
Stand port side to check luff of Gennaker to trim it
Cockpit ( Spin sheet trimmer starboard )
Pulling in jib sheet to set jib about 6 feet ( avoid Gennaker tangle )
Put starboad spin sheet on winch to prepare jibe
After Gennaker clew goes starboad side, start pulling in spinsheet ( Starboard ) to fly Gennaker
Take care starboard winch with spin sheet- work with starboad crew
