• Why is important? Refer to flashcard on relying on thirst to drink water and dehydration. Animation/some drawings of our potential water bottle can be shown in this slide 1.
  • - I wanted to insert a graph but the results found on has no fantastic statistics!
  • Flash for a few seconds on the screen is enough
  • Research have shown that they tend to forget to drink water yet they know the importance of drinking water. They would not mind putting in the effort to meet the daily required water level and thus our water bottle can help them in that.
  • Through surveys conducted, people find alarms (sound output) too annoying and vibrations distracting. By using sms to remind users, it will suit the working lifestyle of our users. 4) Inputting personal data (weight, height, working conditions) into Hydra Calculator, which will then tell users what is the suitable amt of water they should drink. Eg, if their working condition requires them to stand for long hours, they have to drink more water
  • Pictures become clearer as the target water consumption volume is reached.
  • Strength of solution

    2. 2. Overview and reason

A water bottle that connects to a system that records the water consumption of the individual

Reasons:

People do not drink enough

People do not drink regularly

Most people rely only on thirst to drink

People do not have healthy drinking habits

People do not exercise enough and do not drink enough when they do exercise

    3. 3. What AquaFlask will do..

Regulate water consumption for health conscious working adults/professionals

Encourages/guides user to have a habit of drinking sufficient amounts of water daily

Motivates

Helps develop the habit through fun and interactive ways

    4. 4. Why it is important to drink water

Transports nutrients and oxygen to cells

Ensures adequate blood volume

Protects against heat exhaustion

Acts as insulation in the cold

Regulates body temperature

Cushions joints

Suppresses appetite

Assists the body in metabolizing stored fat

Relieves fluid retention problems

Reduces sodium buildup in the body

Helps to maintain proper muscle tone

Rids the body of waste and toxins

Helps convert food into energy

Maintains strength and endurance

Protects organs

    5. 5. Problem statement: People

Health conscious busy working adults

People tend to forget to drink water or have a preference for other beverages instead of water. They do however WANT to drink water.

These beverages can contain high amounts of sugar, caffeine or other substances that can be harmful to our body when consumed in excess.

    6. 6. Similar Technology Camelbak

Pros:

Water Gauge measures how much water you drink, and how much is left in your reservoir

Cons:

Do not help form behaviour

Only works with Camelbak products.

Hydracoach

Pros:

Monitors the total amount of fluid consumed through the day.

Cons:

Do not help form behaviour

Bad design

    9. 9. Injecting fun into Aquaflask Sample “Flower” motivation prototypes derived from existing free stock art. 5-stages 5-stages 6-stages
    10. 10. Strengths of solution

Simply avoiding dehydration can help prevent many health problems in the future.

A straightforward solution to a simple problem

Fun and motivational

Allows interaction

Stylish design to suit the taste of our target group

“ Forgetting” is no longer an excuse

    11. 11. Criticism of solution

Size/weight of the bottle

Bottle may not be light and small due to the multiple features. Thus, it might not be able to fit into a lady’s handbag or a man’s briefcase

Deciding the source of energy.

Batteries are troublesome.

Solar panels will only work if they bring the water bottle out.

Kinetic energy is not feasible as it may be left on a desk for long periods.
