Personal Learning & Thinking skills
This will help students to develop a wider set of skills in the work force.
The 14-19 curriculum is looking to develop both “ employability skills ” and “ finely honed study skills ” which employers and higher education partners are looking for respectively.
This will be done under a framework of
six groups of skills in accordance with
Mathematics, English and ICT .
The six skills include:
team working
independent enquiry
self-management
reflective learning
effective participation
creative thinking.
Curriculum Dimension
The 14-19 curriculum offers refresher and catch up opportunities for struggling students.
More flexible framework for teachers , creating more opportunities to tailor the curriculum for individual students.
More coherence between subjects , transitional materials provided to ensure smooth progress to key stage 4
and beyond.
E.g. through cross curricular themes.
With a less prescribed factual content ,
teachers will be able to personalise the
curriculum, designing learning
experiences to meet individual
needs and engage all learners.
