Revision Life Cycles of Plants
Beautiful and Colourful flowers that are around you
What happen if the plants do not reproduce anymore?
What happen to the animals that feed on these plants? They will eventually die of hunger
How do most flowers/plants reproduce? Most flowering plants reproduce from seeds. Video showing
What are the differences between soaked and un-soaked bean? The seeds became bigger , they grew in size and the seed coat starts to split open
The roots became longer and grow deeper into the soil Difference between the roots?
Difference between the stems? The stem became longer and leaves starts to appear More leaves will appear and become bigger in size
Plant Part What happen to it? Seed Grow into a young plant with leaves Roots Grew longer and deeper into the soil Stem Grew longer. Leaves Start to have more leaves and grew bigger in size
Parts and Function of a seed Video showing Baby Plant Seed Leaf Seed Coat A B C Label Part of the seed Function A Baby Plant Develop into a new plant C Seed Coat To protect the seed – protecting covering

During Summer During Spring On the mountain Too near the Sun During Winter Right amount of warmth and water It is either too hot or too cold for seeds to grow into young plants Suitable Conditions Unsuitable Conditions
Will ALL the seeds in a fruit or plant grow and become a young plant? Not all the seeds will have a chance to grow into young plants.
Bala planted some seeds in a container that is filled with wet soil and place this container into his enclosed shoe rack. He realised that the seeds starts to grow after 3 days even when they are placed in an enclosed area. What is this process called? Why do you think that it is possible for the seeds to grow? Answer: Germination. It is possible because sunlight is not needed for seeds to grow into young plants. Case Study 1:
Is sunlight needed for the process of germination? No. During germination, the seed only needs air, warmth and water . Sunlight is needed only when the leaves of the plants start to grow / appear. 2 nd stage of the life cycle – young adult plant stage The leaves need sunlight in order to make food
What will happen to the plants if the container were to be left in an enclosed area after the leaves of the young plants start to appear? Answer: The plant may shrivel and die because the plant is not being able to make food due to the absence of sunlight. Case Study 2:
