  • 2. Essential Question
    • Why do they use children slaves?
  • 3. Why did I pick this topic?
    • I picked this topic because when we watched the Oprah episode I had a million questions. It really touched and made me think how lucky I am.
  • 4. How many kid are slaves in africa?
    • There are about 200,000 child slaves in eastern and central Africa.
  • 5. How do they children become slaves?
    • The parents of the slaves sometimes sell their kids for as low as $20.
    • Fisherman kids take the roles of slaves only if they are adopted.
    • Some slaves are captured.
  • 6. Do the parents of the slaves know where their children are?
    • Since the villages are so far away, parents usually don’t know where they children are. Most don’t even communicate with the children.
  • 7. Do the slaves get schooled?
    • The children don’t get schooled until they are free.
    • Many of the former slaves learn how to read English in about 2 years.
    • There are many homes that provide education, food and shelter to former slaves in Africa.
  • 8. How does child slavery stop?
    • Some people try to persuade the fisherman to stop slavery. Most are successful but others have to be convinced with money.
  • 9. Why its Important to stop child slavery.
    • It’s important because its so dangerous. No one wants to be a slave especially someone younger than 5. all kids should be outside running around and laughing.
