  • 2. How does AIDS effect Africa?
  • 3. Why I choose this topic?
    • I thought it would be very interesting to learn about AIDS.
    • I wanted to learn about how the kids are effected by AIDS.
    • I want to know how people get AIDS.
  • 4. What I already know about AIDS
    • I know that people can die from AIDS
    • I also know that children get AIDS from there mothers from birth.
    • You can get very sick from having AIDS.
  • 5. Do a lot of people have AIDS?
    • 1 person dies every 13 seconds from AIDS.
    • 23 people die every 5 minutes.
    • 274 people die every hour.
    • So far 47.4 million people have died from AIDS in Africa.
  • 6. How do people get AIDS?
    • People get it from dirty needles
    • Unprotected sex
    • Bodily fluid like blood
    • Mothers pass it to there infants during child birth.
  • 7. Why does Africa have more people with AIDS?
    • There're very poor.
    • The government is not well organized.
    • They don’t have the right equipment.
    • They lack education.
  • 8. Other facts
    • Average life expectancy in Africa is now 54 years old, without AIDS it is estimated that it would be 64. 15 year olds are not expected to reach the age of 60.
    • 280,000 children that are aged below 15 are living with AIDS.
    • Kids don’t have parents because of AIDS.
    • 1,100,000 kids are orphaned because of AIDS.
  • 9. Questions I still have about AIDS
    • Is there a way to help these people with AIDS?
    • Is there a cure to help these people?
    • Are the medicines getting better to help them?
