Microsoft Powerpoint Innovative Uses Of Whiteboards - Presentation Transcript

    1. INNOVATIVE USES OF WHITEBOARDS Kelly Connolly ED 5700 TWT Dr. Smirnova Summer ‘08
    2. A variety of resources exist to enhance the use of whiteboards. These resources can be used in conjunction with any content area.
    3. The whiteboard we are all most familiar with is the “Smart Board.” I had no idea that a Smart Board was a interactive Whiteboard. Until now………………..
    4. The possibilities are endless when it comes to using the Whiteboard. It is necessary for teachers to have the training that is required to implement these “endless possibilities.”
    5. ~Regardless of the content area, the students have the opportunity to work collaboratively with one another when using a Whiteboard.
    6. Instead of subjecting you all to “Death by PowerPoint,” I decided to add this link (with permission) to a You tube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NzL1NYi3Y 8&feature=related This video focuses on a Kindergarten class and how the teacher integrates the Whiteboard in the classroom. Most of us in the class are going to be secondary education teachers, but the ideas presented in the video can still be used when tweaked a bit according to age and content area.
    7. For my purposes, as a Social Studies teacher, the idea of using graphic organizers and Venn diagrams is what really turned me on.
    8. English Language Arts Growing Stories Interactive Stories Spelling Rules Save lessons for students who were absent The final draft can be printed directly from the Whiteboard.
    9. INNOVATIVE USES FOR MATH & SCIENCE GIZMOS –Online simulations that power inquiry and understanding. i-Maths – Are online interactive math activities for students and educators. These tools allow for simulations and exploration by saving the math manipulatives to a file and manipulating them on the screen.
    10. The list of tools available couldn’t possibly be listed here! Check out http://www1.center.k12.mo.us/edtech/resources/S Bsites.htm at your convenience for great ideas.
