  11. 14. Museu do Vinho do Porto Housed in a refurbished edifífio sentenced on the banks of the Rio Douro, the Museu replaces an old warehouse winery. Through panels and multimedia stations is told the story of Port. Since the trade, the region of Douro, the railway line, Rabelo boats that transported and ripened to the evolution of all the bottles and objects that have changed with time in the making of nectar Portuguese international.
  12. 15. Vinho do Porto
  13. 16. Porto Branco The white Port wine is made exclusively from white grapes and aged in large oak vats (20 000 liters and more). Typically Port wines are white wines young and fruity (not diminishing reserves) and are the only Port wine that categorizes as to its sweetness. There are so dry white, half-dry and sweet. Still, due to how the Port is produced, the wine is almost never completely dry, always keeping some of its initial sweetness and is therefore common to find white "dry" with some sweetness. Porto Ruby The Ruby red wines that are too mature in vats. Due to the low contact with the wood (because the surface / volume ratio is small) for longer retain their original characteristics because of the low oxidation. They are so very fruity wine dark in color (ruby), with flavors of red fruits (berries or plums for example) and with characteristics make young wines.
  14. 17. Porto Tawny The Tawny is also red wines made from the same grapes fact that Ruby, but that only age two to three years in the rafters, and then into the barrels of 550 liters. These allow a greater contact of wine with the wood and then with air. So Tawny breathe more rapidly aging and rusting. Due to the high oxidation Tawny lose their original color of red wines, winning lighter tones such as amber, and flavors of dried fruits such as walnuts or almonds. With age the Tawny become even more aromatic complexity, enhancing the aromas of dried fruit aromas and getting wood, roasted coffee, chocolate, honey, etc.. In wines very old tawny red initial (Ruby) of new wine disappears and becomes brownish red tones, golden amber. Unlike red wine, white port wine, new color usually yellow straw, with aging come to acquire the more color, showing the yellow / golden yellow / brown and white wines already too old to get your color to amber, mingling with the red wines also very old.
