    • A new member joins LinkedIn approximately every second , and about half of our members are outside the U.S.

  • LinkedIn Home Page – So much Information!
  • Key Profile Information
    • Summary – Brief information on the highlights of your career and what you offer.
    • Photo - Professional photo allows the people you’ve met and previously worked with to quickly identify you.
      • Many people find it far easier to remember a face than a name
    • Specialties – This section should be keywords related to your position. This is helpful when recruiters are doing “keyword” searches for their open positions.
    • Experience – List all the companies you have worked for in the past. If you have held a number of positions at Roche (Different titles and maybe different orgs) list them each separately.
    • Education – List all educational degree’s you have. – Also include any activities or societies you belonged to that are related.
    • Recommendations – You want to make sure you have at least 5 good recommendations.
    • Additional Information – List groups and associations that you below to.
    • Contact Settings – How you would like to be best contacted and what you are interested in – LIST YOUR PRIVATE EMAIL ADDRESS

    • LinkedIn Recommendations can be a way to highlight your accomplishments and Subject Matter Expertise.
    • They make your LinkedIn profile more dynamic and personal
    • It’s done publicly, and on a website that is VERY searchable on Google & Yahoo.
    • It’s a way to give references, that won’t get bothered by calls or emails.
    • Shows why people enjoy working with you!
    • LinkedIn recommendation is an opportunity to read a reference in advance – project credibility!!

    • Make your LinkedIn profile 100% complete
      • Include all companies, education, and awards. These are the key items on which we recruiters search.
      • References are very important. The more we know about you the better.
      • The more robust your profile, the higher you will be in the Google search rankings.
      • The more information a recruiter has upfront, the more efficient the search process.
    • Use a profile picture that you use on multiple sites
      • A picture helps to create and reinforce your online brand
      • It will help a recruiter identify you on the interview day at “Starbucks”
    • Use the “Specialties” box to fill in keywords
      • List as many keywords as possible that are relevant to your roles, capabilities, and interests that will help you turn up on LinkedIn Search
    • Update your LinkedIn “Status” regularly
      • If you are actively looking for a job, tell people what you are looking for!
