Creative Commons Licensing - Presentation Transcript

    1. Creative Commons Licensing Explaining Creative Commons Licensing to Kohl’s
    2. Copyright Laws
      • Copyright laws have been changed to state that once a work is created, it is copyrighted.
      • No one can use this work unless permission is given by the author.
      • What if you are the author and you WANT people to use your work?
    3. Creativity Always Builds on the Past.
      • Since this is true, if things are copyrighted, how are we supposed to use them?
      • So many things in the past have been written down, and make good sources for information.
      • Isn’t there a better way?
    4. Creative Commons Licensing
      • Creative Commons Licensing allows creators to put any kind of licensing laws on their work as they so choose.
      • They have the choice to allow everyone to use parts of their work, to change it or not, or to build upon it.
      • This way, information is available to everyone.
    5. Creative Commons Licensing
      • Creative Commons Licensing lets you build a custom license with as many or as few restrictions as you want.
      • There is no need to go through a “middle man” to get permission to use this information.
      • It makes life so much simpler!
