Reputations a project based on Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson By: Brittany Bauer
High school can change a person’s life entirely. There are cliques and people that are out to cause drama for others. Rumors are spread to cause problems for other people. Reputations are ruined for others also. Reputations are the first thing people know about you so having a bad reputation can be something that pushes people away before they know your true personality. Whether this is right or wrong, it is still true. This project is here to inform teenagers about the impacts and repercussions of a high school reputation.

Gossiping is a tool that is used to harass and embarrass others while enforcing their own image/reputation.
Reputations are a by-product of gossip and rumors.
What is said about a person in school or parties is usually what serves as the foundation behind a reputation.
Girls and Gossip
Many studies focus on boys as being bullies but girls can be even worse when it comes to harassment.
Girls bully in more emotional ways than boys, it usually does not come down to physical attacking in girl drama.
Spreading rumors is a very serious and emotional way of bullying.

Wrap Up of Survey.
Most high school students, when surveyed, said that they had a rumor spread about them. In research, I found that rumors were common in high school regardless of gender.
Many people said that they have the friends that they do because of things like partying, academics, clothing, etc. This fact stays true to the research because I found that the main indicator of when teens start to drink is if their friends do. (Impaired Driving and Teens)
Wrap Up Continued
When surveyed, about two-thirds of people say that flirty girls do not have a good reputation. Those same girls are known to be the ones that bully people and have a good reputation because she is popular and shows power.
After researching what is used for gossip, they are almost all the same as what choices can influence a reputation. This proves the fact that your choices can be used against you for gossip and in turn, ruin your reputation.
This project’s purpose is to inform teenagers about reputations and how they can be effected in high school. High school can be a place that can make or break a person. It is basically a game that you must figure out how to play. Rumors are spread and reputations are ruined but you have to play your cards right. The people in high school can be manipulative or easy to manipulate but in the end, the strong and confident people come out on top.
