Vincent Willem Van Gogh Vincent Willem van Gogh (30 March 1853 – 29 July 1890) who was born in Groot- Zundert, a village that was close to Breda in the province of North Brabant in the Southern Netherlands. After working as a teacher, he became a missionary worker in a very poor mining region. Van Gogh came up with the idea of Expressionism. Vincent Willem Van Gogh was a Dutch Post-Impressionist artist. He had an enormous influence on 20th century art, especially on the Fauve and German Expressionists.
