  4. 4. CHARACTERISTICS OF THIS PROGRAM: <ul><li>1- It exposes children to the English language before moving to the middle school </li></ul><ul><li>2- it is built on pupils’ previous experiences learning a 2 nd language with Latin letters </li></ul>16/02/10 date et heure
  5. 5. <ul><li>3- it must not overwhelm learners who are still developing skills in their 1st and 2 nd languages </li></ul>16/02/10 date et heure

So English Language PROGRAM is: <ul><li>1- introduced at the level of the 5th grade </li></ul><ul><li>2- introduced as a club activity </li></ul><ul><li>3- based on young learners’ social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development </li></ul><ul><li>4- based on the Tunisian context </li></ul>16/02/10 date et heure

HOW DOES IT FUNCTION? <ul><li>1- it is a group experience </li></ul><ul><li>2- it takes place 3 times a week </li></ul><ul><li>3- It involves 11-year-old children </li></ul><ul><li>4- less formal than regular courses </li></ul><ul><li>5- emphasizes exposure to the language more than skills development </li></ul>16/02/10 date et heure
