- Clicking TinyURL (free toolbar button) automatically creates a much shorter (and non-expiring) link for the page you are currently at. Thus, 25 = 70.
- This helps avoid wrap-around in emails, retyping and saves characters in Twitter (of your 140 total).

- Another site claiming to be the #1 people finder in the world. Also claims to tap the “Invisible Web” or “Deep Web” of searchable databases, where it extracts facts, contact details and other relevant information from personal profiles, member directories, scientific publications, court records, etc.
- Simple interface with few search variables.
- Results set includes:
- Photos (scroll over for caption/source), home contact info, personal profiles (MySpace), professional profiles (ex. LinkedIn, Spoke, others), SEC filings, email addresses, Web pages, blog posts, and documents.
- Easily searchable by screen name or email address too.

- Much of what I’ve covered up to this point centers on identifying companies and passive candidates and/or those with landlines.
- With these folks, recruiters have to reach out and get “permission” from the contact to start the job/career dialogue.
- Active candidates are now much easier to find.
- YouTube now ranks 2 nd for search queries – Yahoo! (3 rd ).
- Time spent on social network sites = one of every six minutes spent online. (official Google blog 2-16-09)
- Web 2.0 now 4 th most popular online usage; email now 5th (1-3 = Search; portals; PC software). ( Nielsen 3-10-09)
- 116M Web users in USA read at least 1 blog/month. (eMarketer)
- Social networks & blogs used by 2/3 of all global users.
- Many more mobile phones than computers. Engage people with available technology.
- Social networking popularity = demand to access network via phone.

- What does this mean for recruiters?

- Your Clients = Competitors looking to directly connect with prospects & candidates

- Recruiters need to create & manage their own online presence and network
