  2. 2. Earthquake Safety <ul><li>Anchor heavy appliances and furniture such as water heaters, refrigerators and bookcases </li></ul><ul><li>Stay indoors and hide in strongly secured room. Put hands over head for head protection </li></ul><ul><li>Turn off all electrical devices including lamps to ensure no fires </li></ul><ul><li>Have an earthquake readiness plan. </li></ul><ul><li>Have all family members stick together </li></ul><ul><li>Make sure all walls in house are safely secured especially make sure roof is proper and is strong </li></ul><ul><li>Learn to drop and cover </li></ul>

Earthquake Prepardness <ul><li>Move heavy furniture, such as bookcases, away from beds, couches, and other places where people sit or sleep. </li></ul><ul><li>Make sure that exit paths are clear </li></ul><ul><li>Repair defective electrical wiring, leaky gas lines, and inflexible utility connections </li></ul><ul><li>Hold earthquake drills with your family members </li></ul><ul><li>Get to the lowest part of the house such as a basement </li></ul><ul><li>Don’t panic, and listen to the person who is leading you </li></ul><ul><li>Make sure all doors are securely closed </li></ul>

Earthquake Safety Kit <ul><li>Create a first aid kit with basic supplies including bandages, cotton balls and any essential medications. </li></ul><ul><li>Have emergency supplies of food such as canned food and water </li></ul><ul><li>Add extra clothes. You'll want to make sure that you have warm </li></ul><ul><li>clothes for each member of the family in case you end up sleeping </li></ul><ul><li>outside. </li></ul><ul><li>Emergency battery or phone to call for help. </li></ul><ul><li>Keep matches or lighter to see in the dark. </li></ul><ul><li>Also if needed buy helmets to insure no head injuries and no concussions </li></ul>
