Rolling Stones
The Rolling Stones are an English band whose blues, rhythm and blues and
rock and roll infused music became popular during the “British Invasion” in the
early 1960s. The band was formed in London by original leader Brian Jones,
but eventually led by the songwriting partnership of singer Mick Jagger and the
guitarrist Keith Richards. Pianist Ian Stewart, drummer Charlie Watts and
bassist Bill Wyman completed the eary lineup. Their image of unkempt and
surly youth is one that many musicians still emulate.
Jones die in 1969 sgirtly after being fired from the band and was replaced by
20-year-old Mick Taylor. After Taylor quit in 1974, former Faces guitarrist Ron
Wood took over. Wyman retired in 1993 being replaced by Darryl Jones.
The band have realesed 55 albums of original work and compilations, and have
had 32 U.K & U.S top-10 singles. They have sold more than 200 million albums
worldwide. 1971’s Sticky Fingers began string of eight consecutive studio
albums at number one in the United States. In 1989 the Rolling Stones were
inducted into the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2004 they were
number 4 in Rolling Stones magazine’s 100 Greatest Artists of All Time in the
USA. Their latest album, A Bigger Bang, was released in 2005 and
accompanied by their highest-grossing tour, which lasted into last summer
2007. During the 1969 American Tour, tour manage Sam Cutler introduced
them as “The Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World”.
“(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” is a hit written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards for
The Rolling Stones and produced by Andrew Loog Oldham. Rolling Stones magazine
ranks the song as #2 on its 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. It also made #1on VH1’s
100 Greatest Rock And Roll Songs of All Time. The song was first released as a signgle
in the United States in June 6, 1965 and was also featured on the American version of
the Rolling Stones album Out of Our Heads, released in July of the same year.
“Satisfaction” was a smash hit giving the Stones their first number one in the Unite State.
In Europe, the song initially played only on pirate radio stations because its lyrics were
considered too sexually suggestive.
Jagger lated credited “Satisfaction” with popularising The Rolling Stones, and suggested
that its successwas due to itrs reflection of the “spirit of the times”. The song’s themes
included sexual intercourse and anti-commercialism, causing it to be “perceived as an
attack on the statu quo”.
I can't get no satisfaction,
I can't get no satisfaction
'cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
When I'm drivin' in my car,
and the man come on the radio
He's tellin' me more and more
about some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination
I can't get no. oh, no, no, no.
Hey, hey, hey that's what I say
I can't get no satisfaction,
I can't get no satisfaction
'cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
When I'm watchin' my tv
and a man comes on and tell me
How white my shirts can be
But, he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke
The same cigarettes as me
I can't get no. oh, no, no, no. hey, hey, hey
When I'm watchin' my tv
and a man comes on and tell me
How white my shirts can be
But, he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke
The same cigarettes as me
I can't get no. oh, no, no, no. hey, hey, hey
That's what I say
I can't get no satisfaction,
I can't get no satisfaction
'cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
When I'm ridin' round the world, and I'm doin' this and I'm signin' that
And I'm tryin' to make some girl, who tells meBaby, better come back maybe next week
'cause you see I'm on a losing streak
I can't get no. oh, no, no, no.
hey, hey, hey That's what I say.
I can't get no, I can't get no
I can't get no satisfaction,
no satisfaction no satisfaction, no satisfaction
1_ The song was created in a very casual way. They feel that in spite of being celebrities
they can’t be happy. They can’t enjoy things, a lot of occupations and responsibilities
have a big place in their life. The Rolling Stones don’t find the good or funny of the day,
the simple pleasure, for example the sun or a smile. The band only finds it in drugs.
2_ We think that the song explains the situation of somebody who is not able to live with
a big success. Always there are people who try to offer us bad habits, but we have to be
intelligent and not accept it. “Satisfaction” explains that we have to enjoy all things in
every situation, and be freedom.
3_ The song is about cocaine, because this drug is one of the most dangerous of the
world, besides it is bad for the health and it kills the sex life, it is mentioned in
“Satisfaction”. It speaks about the business develop, sometimes dangerous.
4_ The Rolling Stones has a lot of problems with drugs. Some of them has been very ill,
Ron Wood recognized that the drugs were his past, but Richards and Jagger say that
now they are addicts and they think that they will never will be able to leave them
5_ The song advices us that drugs are addictive and you become an addict, we only
think about it, without them some people can’t live, and nobody wants to be dependent.
