  • 1. Safer Internet Programme Promoting education on Internet Safety in schools
  • 2. The initiative
    • SAFER INTERNET FORUM 2009 (21-23 October 2009) on promotion of education on Internet Safety in schools
    • Expected outcome :
    • Debate in the Forum
    • Report to be published after the Forum
    • If possible, an initiative at Council level after the Forum
  • 3. How to support the initiative:
    • Focus Group to support work and advice
    • Questionnaire to Member States to collect information on national curriculum
    • National debates through awareness nodes (INSAFE network covering 24 Member States + Iceland and Norway)
  • 4. FOCUS GROUP
    • MEMBERS :
    • EC services (DG Infso, DG EAC)
    • Safer Internet awareness centres (AT, DE, IT, PT)
    • EUN (INSAFE co-ordinator)
    • TeachToday (Microsoft and Vodafone),
    • eTwinning pedagogical manager
    • First meeting on 25 March 2009
  • 5. The QUESTIONNAIRE
    • Objective: to collect information about the inclusion of internet safety in the national curriculum
    • Dissemination of the questionnaire through Eurydice network in February-March 2009.
    • The results of the questionnaire will feed the report to be published by the Commission
  • 6. National events
    • Objective: collect information on the implementation of school curricula and identify best practices
    • How: Awareness nodes should organise a meeting with Ministry of Education, teachers’ organisations, industry representatives, Youth Panel.
    • When: May-June 2009
