Dave Pelzer Dave Pelzer born in Daly City, California in 1960. He will graduate highschool. He will graduate college. He has the world in front of him. My job has always been to protect him from this atrocity, and that's my greatest achievement," (Pelzer).

Interview with Dave What were your goals for writing this book? Who are your heroes ? How many awards did you get for The Lost Boy ? Do you have an idea now that you are older, why your mom changed? Did you ever find out why you were your mom's first victim in the house? What advice do you have for families who are going through what you did? Did you make any promises to yourself while in the basement? When you moved from house to house, how did you feel? Did you have any extended family? What was your feelings about stealing food and money from your foster homes? How many years did it take to get your story written for the world? Do you still keep in contact with your foster parents? Do you ever wonder what your life would be like if you weren't abused? How are your brothers? Are Alice and Harold grandparents to your child? Do you still talk to Ms.Gold? How has your life effected how you raise your son? Do you think you would ever become a foster parent?
What would you do if you were Dave's teacher?
Talk to the school principal about my concerns.
Inform to child protective services.
Have a one on one with David.
Offer to listen anytime.
Encourage him to open up to me through talks,pictures,puppets.
Tell David it is not his fault.
Offer a bigger lunch than he is given,if given any. “ Hey David, it seems I packed too much food and I can't eat it all,could you help me?”
