    • 17.7 million women have been in an attempted or successful rape/ sexual assault.
    • College age women are FOUR TIMES more likely to be raped/sexually assaulted.

    • Sexual assaults are one of the most underreported crimes.
    • 60% of rapes/ sexual assaults are not reported.

    • More than 73% of sexual assaults/ rapes were caused by a familiar face.
    • More than 50% happen within a mile of home, if not at home
      • 4 in 10 happen at victim’s home
      • 2 in 10 happen at a friend’s, neighbor’s, or relative’s home.
      • 1 in 12 happen in a parking garage.
  • 7. The Aftermath
    • Victims of rape/ sexual assault are:
      • 3 times more likely to suffer from depression
      • 6 times more likely to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder
      • 13 times more likely to abuse alcohol
      • 26 times more likely to abuse drugs
      • 4 times more likely to contemplate suicide
