The internet is a shared Global computing network.
The internet should be used for communication, education and for some means of entertainment.
WWW stands for the World Wide Web. The World Wide Web is different than the internet because the internet has many sub-categories and the World Wide Web is one of them.
A browser is a software application that is used for retrieving, presenting and traversing information. Two examples of a browser are: Google Chrome and Internet Explorer
    • Surfer Dude: Search Engine and Superhighway Inforamtion !
A search engine is a internet site that used to research relevant information about a certain topic or subject. Two examples of search engines are: Google and Ask.com.
Ways parents can promote internet safety are: complete computer scans (to see what internet sites have been visited, and parents can put up blockers to block certain websites and to.
The only information that should be given out on the internet should be your nickname, that has nothing to do with your real name and that doesn’t have your real name in it. Information that shouldn’t be given out would be your address, your phone number and any other personal information.
Three benefits form joining the information super highway would be connectivity, easy to find information, easier to enjoy art and entertainment.
    • Online Chat
Online Chat: An online chat is a place online where you can talk to people using a nickname.
Some benefits of a chat room are that you can talk to your friends and you can get information for stuff.
A problem you my encounter is someone might lie or you may feel uncomfortable about what is said.
    • Ways you can stay safe
Never give out any personal information such as where you live, your real name, school or any extra curricular things like basketball or cheerleading.
If there is any personal information or anything you feel that is inappropriate tell an adult immediately and log off.
    • Netiquette is a list of rules and proper behavior required for the internet.
One basic rule of netiquette is to remember that you are dealing with real people online. The internet is not just “pretend”.
A flame is when someone sends rude or offensive emails to another person. A flame war is when a person types in a rude message and sends it. Then the person receives this offensive message and posts another rude comment back. This can continue for a long time. Avoid flame wars by treating everyone with respect and manners and good behavior.
Two things you should always remember when online is to be patient with others and never go online when you are angry or upset. Treat everyone as you would want to be treated.
      Basic Rules And Guidelines
    • You should stay away from using all capital letters because it seems to the receiver like you are shouting or screaming. This can be taken the wrong way and may end up in a flame war.
If you become uncomfortable with a topic or site you find on the Internet stop the conversation right away. And log out of the internet. Tell a trusted adult and contact your web master.
Here’s the difference between Public and private messages. In a public email message others can view your information but in a private message, only the person intended to receive the message will be able to access the information.
An emoticon is an animated face which shows expression. This emotion can be either animated or standard. Two of the most common are a sad face and a smiley face
      Suggestions and Tips
    • Slick the spammer
      • Once your email address is on a spammer’s mailing list the damage is done. The junk mail will never stop. There is no point trying to unsubscribe – what that does just confirms to the spammer that your address is active, which makes it more valuable - so they will send you even more mail. The one solution is to cancel your old address and start again with a new one - but this time, make sure that you don't let it fall into the hands of spammers.
    • If you receive and e-mail attachment from someone you don’t know you should Delete the email and be done with it - or better yet, filter it out so that it never reaches your mailbox in the first place.
Three ways you can reduce the amount of spam you receive is
      Delete it
      Ignore it
Don't send mail back to that person.
