    • To come into collision or disagreement: be contradictory, at variance, or in opposition; crash

    • Conflict is unavoidable
      • People are different therefore they will not agree on everything
      • People come from different cultures and backgrounds
      • Problems arise and people deal with problems in different ways

    • Conflict can be detrimental
      • It can cause long lasting rifts to develop between the individuals involved
      • It can cause cliques to form and cause a break down in teamwork
      • It can cause resentment with individuals involved

      • It can spawn a team working environment
      • It can cause us to grow and create new ways of dealing with potential problems
      • It can make us grow individually

    • State The Problem Openly
      • Define the problem
      • Agree on what the problem is
      • Be open to the other sides point of view

      • Treat the conflict as a problem
      • The conflict is not an “I’m right they are wrong”
      • Create possible solutions to the problem the more the merrier
      • Choose a solution that both sides agree to

      • Do not bottle up thoughts
      • Say what ever comes to mind
      • Get your thoughts out in the open

      • Assure the person that you are willing to do what ever it takes to resolve the issue
      • Ask if the other person involved feels the same

      • Find areas that you agree upon
      • This is a starting point from which to solve the disagreement

    • Slow Down The Communication
      • Take turns allow the other person to communicate
      • Do not outside noise interfere with the communication process
      • This will also allow you time to cool down and think more clearly

      • Understand that people deal with conflict in different ways
      • Do not escalate
      • Set aside your biases

      • Understand that crying is not a weakness

      • Emotion is a way of release for the body

      • Conflict will not always be solved be flexible

      • This approach also allows the individuals time to think

      • Take a step back in order to see if we are the ones causing the conflict
      • Maybe we are being hypersensitive toward a certain idea or person

    • Conclusion
      • Although there are many ways to resolve conflict a good start is to remain calm, be honest, and treat each other with respect. Understand that there is always a solution to the problem, but it might not be our solution that is the best one.
